Save the Dates

Helena, on April 20, 2020 at 9:34 AM Posted in Planning 1 10
Hey everyone, so I feel like it's a silly question with lots of brides having to postpone weddings but I wondering if I should send my Save the Dates sooner then you normally should. My wedding is April next year and I was planning on sending them in june or july but didnt know If I should send them sooner due to covid and many brides rescheduling their special day!!

My date isn’t until October 31,2020 but I am sending my save the dates in May as normally planned. Not letting COVID-19 break my spirit!

I'm not sure there's any reason to send them earlier. If another couple reschedules and it happens to fall on your day, I would assume most people will decide to attend the wedding of whoever they're closest to, not who sent their save the date first.

That might not be a bad idea. You have to consider all angles and it sounds like you've got them covered.

I know you're doing save the dates, but for my invitations, I'm putting a small card in the envelope that says we understand the current situation is uncertain and that we will notify them on my wedding website if anything changes or gets cancelled. My wedding is in July and I'm sending my invitations this week.

My wedding is in April of 2021 as well and I was wondering the same thing. I was thinking about sending the Save the Dates in June. About 70% of the guests would need to travel. Not very far, but far enough they would need to stay in a hotel that night. I was thinking that given the current circumstances, giving people a little extra time to plan wouldn't be a bad thing. Right...?

I was thinking of waiting until I have the block of hotel rooms set to send the Save the Date cards. I don't think it would be pushy given everything going on. I would like to think that the guests would be understanding.

I'd probably kindly remind friends and family who have weddings this year/ are newly engaged when yours is next year now, so they don't frantically book your date. Otherwise, people will go to the weddings of the people they are closest to. But yeah, I get you probably don't want grandma having to choose between your and your cousin's wedding if it could have been avoided.
