We are planning on a 80 person wedding . Are save the dates necessary?

Save the dates are only a necessity if you're having a destination wedding, lots of out of town guests, or a weekday or holiday wedding.

Only if you want to send them. STD's aren't required for any guest amount.

We had about that many guests and skipped Save the Dates. It was a more local wedding though, so they weren't really needed!

We have a lot of out-of-town guests coming for a wedding on a popular 2020 date, so I'm planning on sending save the date magnets out in January. But they're not a necessity, particularly for a local wedding.
