Do y'all think it is crucial to have save the dates? If so what are some good places to use on a tight budget for them? Thank you so much for your help!

There is an app.. but I’m not sure it has texting capabilities.. I used the website canva.com to design cards and invitations and you can either download the design or you can order from them.

    Hello,

I do not think it's crucial, as some of the others have mentioned. I only did some Save the Dates by text message using an app on my phone called Canva. I sent them to my family that are coming from out of state, just so they had the date in mind to make plans. Then later I sent out the invites which I got for a really good price at Ann's Bargain. Hope it goes well!

Yes, I got the app on my phone. I made the design and was able to download/save for free on my photos. Then I sent out as a text message image. I did not know they have a website to order invites. That's pretty helpful. Hopefully they are not too pricey.

We didn't send out save the dates, everyone just kinda knew the date and we sent invitations a little earlier than normal

They’re not required, but they are nice if you want to do them. FH and I got magnets from Vista print and they were very affordable!

I plan on creating our save the date using Canva! I’ll send the cards electronically.

If you are having a destination wedding I would say yes so your guest have time to prepare for travel. Zazzle is cheap and they have some lovely designs that you could also customize . If I remember correctly I was going to pay about $80 for 60 with shipping and taxes ( Florida) but I decided to just DIY my own

We did ours on Zola and they were great and reasonable! Our guests loved them.

I personally find them sweet. I was very excited to send them and everyone has raved about them thus far. They really can set the tone for your wedding if you personalize them enough. For example, our wedding is happening in Maine in the winter and our save the date's were printed on very natural looking paper and we tied little boughs to them and added in little cedar and fir branches to make them look and smell like Maine!

It is also a good way to make sure that you have everyone's address right before you send the invitations (which are typically a lot more expensive). I also think they are nice for guests that travel a lot or older guests that like to plan ahead. Lastly, it was nice to provide people with our website information so that they could check that out and read more about accommodations, RSVP to events, and book rooms sooner rather than later.

Tip: Get them printed at a local printed place vs Shutterfly or any of those places, which will save you some major $$$.

Not required, but this may depend on your crowd. We did for a few reasons:

-Our wedding is 3 weeks before Christmas

-FHs family is traveling cross country

-Some of my family are military

I actually found a free template online that allowed me to choose the style I liked and input all my information. I saved the picture on my phone then took it to the Walmart photo center and had them printed. 200 of them for only $9. Just try googling free save the date template.

As others have stated, not necessary! But they are appreciated by planners like me. Because keeping blank an entire weekend with only 6-8 weeks and I may have to get a hotel? My anxiety is through the roof. But I'm a crazy planner.
Vistaprint is amazing. 5-6 years ago I used them. $300 for 200 magnet STDs, 200 invites, 200 RSVPs, thank you cards for shower, wedding, plus extras, and a ton of address labels that we are still using. Plus, I got like $75 back on ebates. Black Friday sale for the win!!! There was a printing issue with the invites and it was a very minor color glitch. They sent me all new invites and envelopes free of charge within a week. So there are definitely ways to do it up cheaper.

I dont think that it is that important. If you can get it out by word of mouth or even facebook that would work. In the fact that usually just because people get a save the date does not always mean that they will get a formal invite to the wedding itself. So I personally would not send out Save the dates if you are not able to really wrap your budget around it

I designed mine on Walgreens, saved it on my computer and then printed them on photo paper. It was $5 with a coupon code for $30
