Save the Dates!

Kelly, on January 5, 2020 at 3:17 PM Posted in Planning 1 9

Hi all,

We're pretty close to setting a date and I would say 75% of our guests (maybe more!) will be coming from out of state, some even out of the country, so we want to get our save the dates out very shortly after booking our venue. We're teachers, so we don't have a huge budget and don't want to spend too much on these. Where did you get your save the dates from? Did you love them? What would you have changed about your actual save the dates or the process? Thank you so much!!

We got magnet save the dates from Vistaprint (100 for about $45 on sale) and absolutely loved them. If you don't want magnets, you could order a template from Etsy and print it yourself for even cheaper.

There are some editable ones you can purchase on etsy to make your own. I got mine while on sale now I can personalize with different things I see.

Love the magnet idea! I just always thought they were so expensive. Were they expensive to mail out to everyone? We have some going overseas, etc, so I'm just trying to be mindful of spending too much on these, though they will be on everyone's fridge for a long time so a magnet would be really cute in that regard!

We kind of have 2 save the dates.

We ordered cards (with envelopes included) on Zazzle because they had a fun vintage “telegram” design that went well with our venue and the overall wedding style. So it give guests a hint at what the wedding will be like (then our invitations will build upon that for second hint). I ordered a few different samples first before deciding on the perfect one. It was good quality printing and paper and Zazzle always has a discount they’re offering.
Additionally, since we’re having a destination wedding in Las Vegas, we wanted that to also be reflected in our STDs. So we ordered custom poker chip magnets with our name and wedding date. That will go into the envelope as well so that it can be used to hold the STD card onto the fridge.
There’s nothing I would change about our STD’s because they perfectly express our wedding. A lot of people choose to do a photo save the date. But I didn’t want the typical STD (plus, our guests already see plenty of photos of FH and I in regular clothes in a variety of locations on Facebook Lol!) So that didn’t seem necessary. Instead we’re including a wedding photo with our thank you cards.

We ordered post card save the dates on Black Friday. They were only about $30 for 100 of them (: vista print in general has pretty cheap prices, and usually has a coupon. Same as Shutterfly!
