Save the dates

Debbie, on January 10, 2021 at 10:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 12
Mother of the bride here...when is everyone sending save the dates? My daughter's venue suggested perhaps sending them a little early because with all of the reschedules, guests calendars may fill up. Any advice appreciated.

Save The Dates are typically sent 6-8 months before the wedding, though can be 8-12 months in advance for a destination wedding! I agree that sending them a little earlier couldn't hurt, especially with the mail being slow lately, as well as everyone postponing due to COVID. I wouldn't send them more than a year in advance though.

Lisa is spot-on! I'd probably do 10-12 months for a 2022 wedding, and am a big fan of the magnet option since it's a constant reminder.

We sent ours in February 2020 for an October 2020 wedding that was local for most guests.

I plan to send them in Sept for my August 2022 wedding. A year out is plenty of time and not too early that people will forget about it or get confused about what year it's for. I know everything feels urgent because of the reschedule and COVID, but I realized RSVP is not first come first serve and people attend the wedding they want to regardless of when they receive your STD.

I sent mine out early just because of all of the rescheduled events and vacations. I did it at the 12 month mark.

Minimum 6 months, maximum 12. But make sure the guest list is 100% finalized because they must receive an invite following.

We’re getting married in September and sent them out last week, with the hopes that everyone receives them by the end of January/early February.

I sent mine out at 10 months for July 2021 since most of our guests are coming from out of town and would have to fly we wanted to give ample time for them to make plans.

We sent ours out about 10 months before our 4/3/21 wedding. Just mailed out our invitations with a deadline of 2/28 to RSVP. That gives me a week to track down the few who don’t respond- have a meeting set up on 3/5 to make our final payment, give our final headcount & lock down the decorations.

For our November wedding, we are looking to send them out next month. We have some people out of state that we would like to be there, so we want to give as much notice as possible.
