Save the Dates

Mayra, on January 28, 2020 at 1:32 AM Posted in Planning 0 12
Hi. I wasn’t planning on making save the dates but I’m getting married on Sunday May 30, 2021 (Memorial Day Weekend) so I need to now lol. How far in advance do I need to send them out? I’m not having out of town guests come in but I do have a few families that usually go away for the weekend. Please advise, thank you 😊

My daughter is having this same concern. I'm interested in how this will pan out but her save the dates will be one year out

8 months - 10 months is the run our family uses. But it will take a month or two for them to come in and if you are hand labeling them then that takes time too!

Save the dates are typically sent 6-8 moths before your wedding. Since you are worried people maybe planning trips, I’d send yours around 8-10 months.

We did the same thing, as soon as we knew we were having a June wedding we thought about save the dates. Some sites and resources will say 6-8 months before and some say 8-10 months before. If you’re worried about guests making plans around your date I’d say 8 months would be good timing.

We sent ours earlier January 2020 for our June 2020 wedding. I waited until January because I didn’t want them to be mixed in with holiday cards.

    Like yesterday.

Edit: thought this was for 2020. I'd say probably in October.

We sent out our save the dates 6 months in advance. But in your case I def would send them out sooner, holiday weekend plans happen fast. (I already have mine for Memorial day).

Thank you all. Also regarding RSVPs, what do you all think of having guests respond via text? I feel mostly everyone is on their phones and it would probably be easier?? Is it tacky? Thx 😊

I would definitely send yours out 9-10 months before since it is a holiday weekend! Smiley smile

I'm getting married Sunday, May 24th this year! Since it's a holiday weekend, I sent my save the dates 7 months (mid-October) in advance so far no complaints!

    Uh... I wouldn't advise it.
I'd be so irrationally angry if my phone went off that many times. Plus it gives people a direct line to you. Sure a ton of people have my phone number, but I think putting it on an invite like that is an open invitation to constantly contact you.

"Can I bring 10 dates?""Your 10th cousin 7 times removed is mad you didn't invite him."It just seems like you're inviting unnecessary headaches.

We waited til we had our wedding website up and our engagement photos back. We sent ours out 8.5 months in advance. I'd say 12 months before max.
