Save the dates question

Nichole, on September 14, 2021 at 8:17 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10
I am hoping to get my save the dates sent out next week. So my question is I have about 7 people I am still trying to hunt down addresses for, is it ok to send out the save the dates for everyone else and then send the last few out once I have their addresses or do I have to wait until I have all the addresses?

I'd say it's completely fine to send the others out.

They won't all arrive on the same day anyway, so they'll hardly know. And even if they did, you could just say yes I was still harassing you for your address or I would have sent it with the others, lol.

It says you're getting married next September. Is your wedding out of town? It's a little early to send Save the Dates. My wedding is the same weekend as yours and I'm waiting until March. If you send them too early most people will lose them or forget.

Agree that there’s no rush on sending them out just yet, so I’d probably just wait til I have all of
The addresses together , makes it a bit simpler and easier on you organizationally. That said, if someone’s not responding to you and giving you the info you need, that’s on them….they can’t complain they didn’t get their save the date on time if they didn’t give you the info needed to get it, so I think it would be fine to go ahead and send the rest, as long as you have asked them directly.

Yes I know its early but I do have people coming from out of town (cousins who live as far as Colorado and an aunt and uncle who live in Africa) as well as I have people on my guest list that need extra time to ensure they can get the day off work since it is extremely difficult for them to get people to switch shifts.

I'm also getting married next September (we're getting married on Labor Day weekend so I sent the STD's early so people didn't make travel plans) but I did withhold some STDs from the first round I sent out, so I think your fine!

One couple, we just decided to invite, another guests Boyfriend just passed away and we didn't want to bombard her with happy loveydovey moments while she was just starting a grieving processes and FH's family live on a compound (two of his aunts/uncles, his parents and grandparents all live on the same property) and he wanted to hand deliver those so they haven't been mailed, and one guest we just don't have an address for yet.

I don't see a problem with that at all!

Thanks everyone, I will send out the ones that are ready and then mail the others once I get their addresses.

I'm just going to caution again that STD's are basically invitations, which means once they've been sent this locks in your guest list. You can't reduce it in any way after that. I only mention because this is a frequent source of angst when STD's are sent early.

It's OK to send them at different times, though!

Thanks for the advice, Ive had my guest list locked down since last April so Im hoping no one causes any major issues from here on out but I will keep that in mind. Im actually kinda worried about the one for my uncle in Africa getting lost, we dont have a phone number for him to try calling him and he is very iffy about checking his email.

Could you send that one with something like registered mail to make sure he gets it?
