Save the dates? or invitations only?

Samantha, on April 5, 2021 at 2:52 PM Posted in Planning 1 9

We just got engaged and are planning to get married September this year! Only 5 months away! We are hoping to have the venue and date booked this weekend. Should we order Save The Dates the moment we book the venue and set the date? If we do that i'm sure by the time they get to us and we label them they wont hit people's mailboxes until the end of the month. Then we would send invitations out Julyish (two months before). Or should we just scrap Save The Dates and send the invitations out maybe Juneish? Just looking for other peoples thoughts on this. Thank you!

I would skip the save the dates at this point. I hope you are able to find a venue in such short notice.

I would personally skip the save the dates OR you could send electronic ones. Especially with covid, sometimes mail can be slower than normal.

I would skip the save the dates. They're a relatively new trend and not at all necessary. You could always just let VIPs know through word of mouth.

We thought about emailing save the dates. I guess we can just ask for email addresses as well as home address

Absolutely! But also not mandatory if you rather just skip them altogether. The first time, we had time for save the dates but when we had to change our date, we just contacted everyone directly. We will be ordering our invites in the next couple weeks or so and then mail them out.

I would say definitely do save the dates. There’s a lot of rescheduled 2020 weddings and you may just want to give ppl a heads up first to pre plan

Skip the save the dates. They should be sent 6-8 months before a wedding, and you are well past that. Invitations sent 8 weeks before will be fine.
