Save the Dates / Invitations

Shanta, on October 27, 2020 at 5:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 18
Is anyone sending out both save the dates and wedding Invitations or just sending save the dates and using the Knot or the Wire as their actual invite?

So many questions I have lol.

A paper invite is a must at minimum. Or do paperlesspost.com and everyone better have basic internet knowledge who is getting that.

The Knot and WW are not invite substitutes.
Save the dates are a very new concept that some people use via postcards/magnets while others don't..but they still announce their date a year ahead so guests can prepare.
If I got a save the date postcard but a link to a WW page as the "invite" I would assume there was no wedding, and even the most tech savvy people I know would be the same.

Thank you Michelle for clarifying. I just thought that you could send save the dates and just put the wedding website on it and people could go see all the info they needed.
Good thing I asked lol 😊😉

Save the dates are not invitations. You should either send both save the dates and invitations, or just invitations

The wedding website is a collection of info that doesn't go in the invite set itself. So that guests don't blow up the couple's phones with questions.

I'm sending out both. I've actually just begun working on addressing my save the dates, but I have to wait until February to order my invitations from the my venue. I know a lot of people that didn't do save the dates.

Yes send both but you can send save the dates online via email or website. It's cost effective too as save the dates are discarded by many people.

I did save the dates with our wedding website and date on it. I then sent our formal invitations with a details card. I had people RSVP online after the invitations were sent out- I had my website on Minted. So I saved money on RSVP cards & the postage those incur.

Another option for you would be to do online save the dates but I think mail-in invitations are still the best for people to remember to RSVP and attend your wedding!

I’m doing both. We sent our STDs 9 months prior & will be sending out invitations in January for our April wedding.

We're doing both. I just got our STDs gonna send them out next month (6 months out). but if I had to choose I would just send out invitations. you can either not do STDs at all or you can do paperless ones.

    We are doing both.
As we have already sent out our save the dates and working on a design for our paper invitations to eventually send out.

My husband and I mailed out Save the Dates and Wedding Invitations to all of our guests. We did the Save the Dates b/c we had a lot of guests that were going to be traveling from out of state to our wedding and we wanted to give them time to get their days off from work and make their travel arrangements. If all of our guests were in state or lived in our city, we probably wouldn't have done them.

I'm doing STD's and not formal invites. I'm also doing the magnets. The magnets are a constant reminder to people cause they see it every day. I honestly still have STD magnets on my fridge from past weddings from friends and family lol. I'm going to put our WeddingWire and Zola website information on it so that it makes it easier for people to get the info that they need and they can also RSVP on the site too. That also makes it easier for us to keep track of who is coming and who is not. This way we don't get overwhelmed trying to chase people down and constant calls. Honesty who still has and formal invites that were sent to them? after we oooh and ahh over how beautiful they are we either throw them away or stick them somewhere it cant be found. Just my opinion. Its a waste of money, now that we have these wedding web sites

I did up an electronic save the date to send to everyone we want there for sure. Then the official invite will be sent out later once we have details finalized like ceremony time, accommodations, etc.
