Save the Dates - How Early is Too Early?

Brittanie, on May 15, 2019 at 7:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
My wedding isn’t for about year and some weeks and I’m working on designs for my invites and getting addresses and stuff, but I’m not really sure on when to have them ready. And once they’re ready (because I already know it will be done long in advance, when do I actually send them out??

    6-8 months before the wedding.

Save the Dates can be sent out anytime. But 6-8 months is standard.

    Invites 2 months-ish.

Our wedding is Dec 2019 and we sent our STDs out Jan 2019 because over half of our guest list is traveling, including some military.

We sent our save the dates closer to 10 or 11 months in advance, because 90% of people will need to travel more than three hours. We're having a local wedding, just have long distance families.

Everyone says 6-8 months. We are getting married June 2020 and are sending out STDs in August and then sending out invitations in February.

Yeah ours is June 15 2020 and I was already wanting to have mine designed and sent out by July or so lol but I jump the gun a lot with getting to design things and show them to everyone so I wanted multiple opinions on it

Yeah I'm the same way. I would at least wait to send out STDs until you hit the year mark. I am planning on having everything done by the end of the year so I wont be so stressed out next year with everything else going on ( bridal shower, dress alterations all that).

Depends on who's coming, if people have to travel do it around a year. If it's mostly local 6-8 months is fine

Exactly!! If I can get all the main things out of the way first then it’s smooth sailing by the time we hit New Years Day. I’m not someone that thinks “it’s fine I still have a year.” I’m more of a “omg I only have a year!” type of planner lol

Mines close to yours, June 20th next year!
Typical save the date is 6-8 months, I'm thinking I might do 9 just because a) our wedding is small so everyone has the date already anyways and b) there are a lot of weddings in our community next year so I want to get on those fridges a little sooner! and c) I'm just a little bored! With a small wedding there isn't as much to be doing right now, so might as well!
