Save The Dates... for reception only?

FromOToP, on October 3, 2017 at 8:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

Hey all! I can't find any recent threads, or many that touch on this topic. FH and I are getting married in a private ceremony with immediate family only, with a large reception to follow. When we go to send our save the dates out, should we only send them to people invited to both and forgo the save the dates for only reception goers? Or do we create our save the dates with two different wordings; I.e. one for both and one for reception only?

Do you really need STDs for a private ceremony?

For the rest of the guests, make it clear that they are invited to only the reception.

My cousin did what you are doing and skipped the STD, just did invites and made it clear it was a reception invite with no mention of the ceremony.

You can probably skip the STDs if you want. Honestly by the time I sent out my invites people had already forgotten the date!

Save the dates are never necessary. In this case it may be easier to skip them.

Thanks everyone! My original plan was forgoing the save the dates, but then I figured why not. It might just be easier to wait until invitation time and specify on there!
