Save the dates and invitations

Polly, on January 12, 2022 at 12:00 AM Posted in Planning 0 12
Hi everyone!! For your save the dates (and possibly invitations), is anyone planning on manually writing all the addresses on the envelopes? We didn’t order any address labels and I’m thinking they will be a waste of money. We’re only having about 90 to 100 guests so that’s only going to be about ~50ish envelopes for the initial STD’s.

I hand-wrote the address on all the save the dates and invitations. I did get our return address pre-printed on the invitation envelopes though.

We did ours digitally so no need to address, but even with only 50 envelopes, it sounds too time consuming and hand-crampy for me.. plus I'm a perfectionist and would be bothered if I didn't write each address nicely, haha!

If we had sent them via post, I would have just bought some avery labels and print them myself at work or at home - it's very easy to do using their templates, and not very expensive or hard to do.

We did labels. We only have 70 guests. Then we did a custom return stamp that says “future mr & mrs(last name)” with our address. I’m happy we did labels. That way the names and addresses could be a nice script font and I’m happy we got labels because it looked much cleaner. So we will be doing it again for invitations

Also we ordered our labels off Zazzle and for like 30 invitations I think it cost us like $17

I had them pre printed when I ordered mine and am so glad I did! I only had about 60, but I can’t imagine writing that many. Like Rosie, I would’ve been mad if I didn’t have the write look or perfect handwriting so I avoided it altogether.

We bought address labels on amazon ( for like, $6) and you can print the labels at home and then just stick them on yourself

We hand wrote all the envelopes for our Save The Dates, original invitations, and Change The Dates, and will also hand write them for our new set of invitations. However, we have a stamp with our address on it, so we didn't have to write out our address on any of the envelopes, which helped save a lot of time and writing. We sat down on a Saturday with coffee and got through as many as we could. For our Change The Dates, it was just over 40 envelopes. It honestly wasn't too bad writing them out. If you have like 100+ to write out, it would probably be worth it to get them printed or get labels, though if you have around 50 or less, it's not too bad (especially if you have labels or a stamp for your address)

I am old school, so will be hand addressing everything. Personally I feel it is important to show you cared enough to take that time (and effort) I hate getting cards with the computer label address - even if it IS in pretty calligraphy. Just seems "cold" and thoughtless.

Hi everyone!! Thanks for your input!!! I decided to go with an address stamp for our return addresses but will very likely handwrite the addresses for the STD’s and Invitations thats addressed to our guests. I also love the sense of personalization it gives!

Happy Planning everyone, and stay safe!! Smiley heart

Save the dates are informal and often are a basic phone call. For invites, we are considering handwriting, though neither of us have great writing. While I have seen some beautiful styles where the addresses are printed onto the envelope, we would have to pay to have a local print shops for that service. But stationary is a bigger priority than something like favors.

I have received invitations with address labels and based on the experiences I have had, would never ever consider doing that for our invites. The labels make it look like a junk mail mass mailing, and in several cases, the weather had smeared the ink so badly that they barely arrived where they were supposed to. And other guests never got theirs for that reason.

My mother has a Cricut, and my perfectionist self found a way to use the Cricut write mode to address all of my envelopes. If we hadn't found this option, I would've tried to use my printer (a smaller desktop printer, there should be a way to do it that way) or clear address labels I could print on.
