Save the date/Holiday weekend?

OL7889, on July 22, 2017 at 3:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

Hi everyone,

So I know the general rule of thumb is to send out save the dates 6-8 months before the wedding date. We are getting married on July 7th, and July 4th is the Wednesday before that. We're not sure which weekend would be considered "July 4th weekend," but should we send out our STDs earlier that 6-8 months to avoid anyone making vacation plans that weekend? If so, how early should they be sent?

No. 6-8 months is plenty of heads up.

That's plenty of time. I live at the shore in Nj and for us, we consider July 4th weekend, the weekend before (if it falls on a weekday).

We're using a similar timeline, and we're getting married over Labor Day Weekend 2018. We've already mentioned to family/very close friends unofficially so they can reserve the day.

Getting married in August of next year and sending out Save the Dates within the next few weeks. We're waiting to get them back from the designer now. It's destination and summertime, so we wanted to give people the most heads up as possible. Having said that, all our VIP guests already know the dates.

Hi! I am the weekend before you and my weekend is the holiday weekend (technically, according to my extra charges). BUT since people will have Wednesday off and have to work Thursday and Friday, I would get yours out sooner rather than later. People usually get time off on a first come first serve basis and being that close to a major holiday, more people request time off then.

I called all family and gave them a heads up on the date and weekend so they have plenty of time to plan. STDs will be out by Thanksgiving.
