I don't think it would be weird, but I think it would be kind of tacky and probably start a lot of drama. There are other ways to send electronic save the dates (like email) that aren't social media.

I agree with Caytlyn. I wouldn't call it weird, but I do think it would look a little tacky. But you know your crowd better than we do.

If you are having a very informal wedding, it would be okay. I'm not on Facebook, but I'm assuming everyone could see it and that might cause some issues with who is invited.

Yeah, the other issue with this shared guestlist via FB is I have some family I DONT want to connect with on FB. I typically can avoid but if we’re all in the same event and they see me and try to friend me, sounds like drama. Also not everyone really uses FB even if they have it. Recently on of H’s friends set up a FB invite for his bday, and a week or so emailed the group instead saying “I don’t know if everyone saw...” and about half the group responded saying “oh lol yeah I had no idea. I never go on FB” . My husband has a profile technically but literally never logs in. So I think a site like Evite or Paperless post is a better move for an electronic save the date.

I don't think I'd do Facebook for your save the dates. It's a little too informal - people don't take Facebook events seriously. And you don't want to risk people who aren't invited to the wedding seeing the Facebook event. How about sending electronic save the dates over email instead?
