Save The Date

Taylor, on January 12, 2020 at 9:37 PM Posted in Planning 2 19
What is the best/cheapest website for making Save The Dates? Are these really necessary? I’m thinking my guest count will be around 200, possibly 250. I’m getting married in October of this year. Also, has anyone sent RSVP cards when they sent their Save The Dates? I want the RSVPs sent as soon as I can to get a better idea. I hate not knowing how many people to plan on.

Vistaprint is pretty inexpensive, especially when they have sales. Save the dates aren’t a necessity unless you’re having a destination wedding, lots of out of town guests, a weekday wedding, or a holiday wedding. Asking for RSVPs months before your wedding isn’t going to work out the way you think. People will just end up changing their RSVPs closer to the wedding when they actually know their schedules.

I ordered a template from Etsy for $10 and then printed through Costco. Each set of 25 cards with envelopes was $16.50.

Ann's bridal Bargains. They are 69 cents a piece and usually have sales going on too.

We used SnapFish.. and download the browser extension called Honey! It searches for coupons to use. We saved a ton of money!

We designed ours through a free online software (Canva, but it's hard to use if you're doing much beyond the templates), then bought some nice paper at Staples and had them print them there. If you spring for a really nice paper, something with a little sheen or texture maybe, no one will know the difference.

Having that many STD will drop your price. I paid 1.05 per STD at magnetstreet.com - but I purchased 160. They turned out beautiful and were delivered with a handwritten note and mini planner. It's also a small business - which I love. Shutterfly is also popular, Anns bridal bargains I've heard of and even Etsy can be, Vista print i have heard used on a few boards as well. Happy planning!

So a RSVP card doesn’t go with the save the dates, it goes with your formal invitation. When you send your save the dates some people might respond and say they already know they can’t attend.

My environmentally friendly save the dates: get someone to make you an electronic one, buy a template, or make an evite. Send them to everyone via email, Facebook, etc. You’ll save a bunch of money on postage & you can use them to get addresses if you don’t have them.
My frugal goal: I’m planning to buy my invitations from vistaprint (which come with envelopes). I’ll create & print my own RSVP cards with Avery 3x5 cards, buy 3x5 envelopes, & any other stuff guests need to know they can find on our wedding website.

I have been checking out Minted and Zazzle for save the date. They are having sales on the save the dates. I would do the save the dates bc I want my guests to keep that date in mind. RSVP is a formal invite that goes with your invitations.

We went with postcards through Vistaprint and I am thrilled with how well they turned out. Highly recommend and they have sales constantly. I would send save the dates if you have a popular or unusual date (ours is on a Friday, etc) or people out of town, just to give guests a heads up but I would wait on rsvps until closer to. I know that the waiting is really hard though!

It just depends how many people you have traveling? If everyone is local, I would just send the invitations out early. If you have a decent amount of people traveling, I would do save the dates, but i would not include the rsvps. Another option is to just send messages to those who are traveling to save that date!
If you really want an early count, just send invites out earlier then normal.

I ordered mine from Minted. If you're planning on getting invitations through them, I recommend joining Minted More so you get discounts every time you order and on holiday cards. It was worth the $30 for me

I think Save the Dates are unnecessary in most cases. However, my wedding will be out of state so I want to make sure all of my in state friends/family will have enough time to prepare if they're coming. So what I ended up doing is customizing a save the date on canva and then I uploaded my own design into Walmart's photo lab. I paid $50 for 100 of them and they actually look pretty good. I went for the cheaper option of matte photo paper but I'm satisfied!

I personally wanted to give guests as much notice as possible, especially since we had a lot of out of state guests. Even if you send invites sooner with RSVPs, you probably won't get actual answers until 1-2 months out. It's hard for some people to commit earlier than that.

Before you order Save the Dates, try Greetings Island. I'm currently making my own stationary on their website. It's free to use but you have to print yourself or at a copy center - they don't send it to you. Best!

Vistaprint and Shutterfly are great! I would also say since you are having an October wedding (which have really become popular in the last decade), I would make the investment and do save the dates. In such a popular month, guests may have more than one wedding they got invited to on a weekend in October!

This Etsy is great for buying a nice design for cheap (with free customization). You can then print at home or professionally for cheap too!

The "best" site is subjective, but it all comes down to which sites has the designs that you are looking for. Finding the right save the date cards took us a while, but we finally found one that we loved on MagnetStreet: rel="nofollow" https://www.magnetstreet.com/shop/save-the-date-cards

The cards were pretty cheap, at about $1.00 per card. While it seems like an unnecessary expense due to invitations, save the dates are necessary, since you want to make sure that everyone doesn't already have plans on wedding day. As for RSVPs, I would include those in the invitations, since stuff might come up for some people closer to the wedding.
