Save the date-what town to put?

Hannah , on January 14, 2019 at 8:16 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
My ceremony is 5 mins from my reception but two
different towns. After reading another post everyone said to put the ceremony location on the save the dates. Does this still hold true if the reception is where everyone is staying/will need to book a room let alone where the reception is? Plus the ceremony is only a half hour? I’m putting my wedding website on it so all the info is right there too. Thanks!!!

I don't think people will book hotel rooms until they get their invitations to have the exact addresses of the ceremony and reception or they find out you have a block at a specific hotel.

When we sent our save the dates, we put Baltimore, MD on them even though we were getting married about 20 minutes outside of the city. No one booked a hotel room in Baltimore.

I am in the same boat as for my save the dates I put the location of our church/ceremony. Our save the date had our wedding website on it as well, and this is where it explains that the reception is at a different venue/location.

    Hope this helps!

We sent out the save the dates before the venues were "officially" booked (we knew, we just had some paperwork to do first). Our ceremony was in Elmhurst, IL. Reception in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. On our save the date postcards, we simply said Chicago since both are suburbs of Chicago. No one asked any questions or thought anything of it. Until the official invitation goes out and any room block information goes out, it's not worth your worry Smiley smile

We had our room block set as soon as STDs went out at 11 months before the wedding so we put where our room block was. I always book a room as soon as I get STDs, so make sure if you are sending out STDs a room block is next on your list if you haven't done it already.

This is a great idea!! Including all of the information about the reception and its location makes things so much easier especially when it's in a different town or city.

My advice would be don't over think it - keep the information as simple as possible.

Are you having a blocked hotel? You could include that information then put the ceremony town.
