Save The Date vs rsvp for November 2020

Corinne, on July 8, 2019 at 11:55 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 10

I have read so many things online that I'm not sure which direction to go. My side of the family will have to fly since my fiance's side of the family is here in Arizona. We were both thinking instead of Christmas cards to send invitations but it's over a year in advance. Our thoughts are for my family to have enough time to get good prices on airfare. Any advice??

Save the Dates - I sent mine out 11 months in advance. Most people suggest 6-8 months out, so if you want to send them in place of Christmas card, I say go for it.

Invitations and RSVPs don't go out until 2-3 months before your wedding date.

Definitely save the dates! I sent mine 10 months in advance, because I have tons of out of state guests I am inviting. You could definitely send them in lieu of Christmas cards! I think that is a great idea!

If you’re doing a wedding website, you can also include that on your save the dates and put up some travel info for guests like hotel block info if you’re doing one. I wouldn’t send invitations too early because people are more likely to forget to rsvp because they are waiting until closer to so they know if they can make it, or changing their rsvp.

Save the dates should go out 6-8 months before the wedding. Sending invitations out that early is only going to give you an inaccurate headcount and a ton of people that forget to RSVP.

Save the Dates. I have some out of town family & we sent our save the dates 10 months in advanced. We also got magnets so I figured people can just stick us on their fridge.

Send save the dates for christmas
I am getting married October 2020 and will be sending out save the dates in December because all of our guests are from out of town or out of state

I wouldn’t send actual invites that far out as people’s schedules can change drastically in that amount of time. I do think Save The Dates would be a cute Christmas card idea
