Save the Date vs. Invitations

So I need to cut cost on my wedding. I'm thinking about only sending out a Save the Date. On it I will include our Wedding Website. On the website I will ask for people to RSVP online. If I'm doing this, do I still need to send out Formal Invitations?

A save the date is important to do especially if you are getting married around the holiday season or any three day holiday weekend. That way your out of town guests can plan their vacations accordingly. If you really want to make your save the date stand out, do a video. We do video save the dates for our clients and they love them! All they have to do is address the DVD mailer and send it in the mail. Your guests wont forget the date when they see one, because it really makes an impression!

Agreed with pp. if your going to skip on one, skip the save the dates. you really dont need them anyway. your only like 5 months away! just send out invitations in like a month and youll be fine. vistaprint.com is a great site, i used them for my std's. or, try A.C. Moore or Michaels. If you find something that you might wanna fancy up a bit, get a hole puncher and some cute ribbon. punch 2 holes, pull the ribbon through, and tie in the front. easy and itll make a big difference and make cheap invited look classy

Skip the save the dates and just sen out your invites in a month. I put my save the dates in my xmas cards this year. Made and printed them on my copmuter and stuffed them in the cards, being your wedding is only a 4months I wouldn't worry about the save the dates'

Oh, and send your invitations at the normal time - 6-8 weeks before your wedding. If someone needs to make travel plans before then, maybe just email them. Or else I'm sure they will ask when you are getting married.
