Save the date postcards or cards

Lily, on October 23, 2018 at 11:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 16
It is weird to send postcards with no envelope as my save the dates? It makes sense to save on the cost for envelopes but I feel like it might be weird to send our picture without an envelope. Has anyone else just sent as postcards? There’s the “deliver to” on our std so if it’s acceptable I wouldn’t mind saving on envelopes. I keep going back and fourth and need input.

I don't think that's weird for an STD it would be cute IMO.

MMM, I think I'd only be worried about them becoming slightly damaged. But I don't think it's that weird, to be honest.

I think it's totally normal I'd just be worried if they were nice quality that they would get scratched/bent/damaged in the mail and you don't want someone to hang your photo on their fridge with scratches.

Our RSVP cards are postcards but I don't mind if they get dirty coming back to me as long as I can read them.

We sent postcards! My only regret was how they looked after they got run through the mail machine - the code at the bottom ended up covering up the wedding website and it kind of messed with the picture on the front (probably both poor planning on my part) but I think in general they got the job done & for cheaper postage/printing than if we would have had something in an envelope so didn't really bother me.

I sent postcards and it worked out great. We only spent $114 for the cards+postage for 85. I also just got a postcard STD from a friend yesterday and it was in fine condition (a little bent but nothing major). It's on my fridge now Smiley smile

Hi Lily! Welcome to WeddingWire! I think postcards are completely fine and really cute! This does cut back on paper waste, and also they look really adorable! Just be sure to do a test layout to make sure that they still look the way you want after the postage! Did you have a certain style in mind?

I don't think so, it's cute! I'd just make them more heavy duty paper so they don't get bent.

We're doing postcards as well; they were delivered this past Friday! We're not going to put them in envelopes. Somehow they're not actually postcard size so we have to use regular postage. One of my bridesmaid bought stamps for me so I appreciated that!

I don’t think it would be weird but I would also be worried about them being damaged after running through the mail machine

We did postcards but I was worried about them getting damaged. So I put them in additional envelope.
