Save The Date Postcards: Envelope or No Envelope?

Dinah, on March 6, 2014 at 5:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

What do you think about sending Save-the-Dates as a postcards – without envelopes? I'm all for saving $ on envelopes but I'm a little concerned about exposing our wedding information (and our pictures) through the mail.

Agree with Erin. I was going to send them out without an envelope but then a friend told me she did that and they were all bent and smooshed in the mail.

Envelope. Don't trust the post office to get it there in one piece. Literally.

I didn't use envelopes I kinda wished I did keep them nice and private but they seemed to arrive in good shape and I don't see how burglars would be patient enough to see my wedding is on 9/21 and wait around to rob someones hows wtf

I'm only doing envelopes for those that are going out of town. I sent one to my mom who lives an hour away with no envelope and it was a little bent, but ok.

I wish I had put mine in envelopes. The ink smudged on the front on most of them, and the front is a photo of us, so it was less than ideal. I think the smudge must have been from when the postcards were put through a machine to cancel them by the post office.

We didn't use envelopes either. We saved on envelopes and postage and it worked out well, for the most part. We didn't put anything specific on the postcard except the date and city. I guess I didn't think about it needing to be too private...

I used an envelope for two reasons. 1. It keeps strangers from knowing your personal information and 2. It protects the postcard from getting ruined when being handled by the post office.
