Save the date card isn't familiar to my friend and family

Amanda, on February 17, 2020 at 12:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I too, didn't really know what Save the Date cards were. I had to research it. I seen them on several wedding invitations sites. I even was giving a wedding planner and it was one of the things to complete. That alone took much time, research, photo shoot, and good word usage.

I do agree, it is a perfect way to announce our special day and location. However, most of my family and some friends mistaken it as the wedding invitation. Not knowing it's not. I have to do the extra step of answering their coming calls and answer their questions of location, time, etc. Also follow up with a text or Facebook message to include our wedding website, Thank you Wedding Wire!! Let me add, I did add our wedding website on our SAVE the Date Cards. I think they are just over excited and fail to fully understand the card and its content.

Anyone had this happen to them too?

My one uncle didn't understand what it was so he asked my grandmother and she explained it to him. He has never been married and hasn't attended many weddings so it made sense that he didn't know. Otherwise everyone else was familiar with that they are.

We just ordered our Save The Dates, and I'm soooo curious what's going to happen after we mail them! Like will people call, text, and get excited... or will there be crickets LOL. Save the Dates are common with our family and friends, so I don't think anyone will mistake them for invites. But to be sure, we put "formal invitation to follow" and also included our website.

I had a GROOMSMAN call us frantically one night afraid he missed the RSVP deadline in December due to the Save The Dates. Ours literally said "Save The Date" the wedding date and the city. Nothing more as to not confuse anyone and he still freaked out. It happens, people get scared they missed deadlines.
