Save the Date and Hotel Room Block info ???

We'llAlwaysHaveParis, on March 26, 2013 at 3:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

We weren't going to send STDs, but we are getting married the weekend after Thanksgiving and the Saturday before hunting season. There is one hotel in my hometown.

We did set up a room block, but I want to make sure our OOT guests know to make their reservations. Invitations won't be mailed until September and our room block expires October 27.

So, FH and I decided to send STDs mainly so guests get the room block info. Is that okay to include on the STD?

For a November 30th wedding when is the latest we could put these in the mail. I'm thinking of waiting until after our e-pic session on April 27.

Absolutely. As a guest, I would appreciate that!

I would make sure they are sent 6 months out - so May 30th.

I'm sending out STDs at the end of April and I won't get married until February of next year. The guests will definitely appreciate having enough time to make the arrangements.

We're getting married 2 weeks before you and are preparing to send out our save the dates within the next week. We have a lot of OOT guests, and it's close to Thanksgiving, so I felt the same way you did - get that information out there! Your guests will appreciate it, I would Smiley smile

I think six months is fine. There are three major events going on in our town the weekend of our wedding and we could only find a few hotels that would even let us make a block. We've repeatedly warned guests that all hotels near the venue will likely be booked if they wait too long to make reservations.

We are less than 100 days out and only 11 of 15 rooms in the block have been reserved. Granted, they have until May 16 to book them, but I'm getting nervous!

We included hotel info and the fact that rooms might be hard to find on our STD.

The last line was in italics and a smaller print than the wedding website information.

I got postcards with all the hotel block info printed up through Vistaprint and included them with my save the dates. Everyone has said that they appreciate having the information up front so they knew how much the hotel would cost in advance.

This is exactly why we did STDs. Our room block ended March 4- 2 months before the wedding. And it is the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg battles so hotels are booked up. So I sent out STDs telling guests the lodging is limited and to book early, all the info and obviously included more details on the website which I gave them then. That being said, only immediate family and the BP booked before the invites went out- 2 weeks before the deadline. So otherwise people are out of luck, we told them 9 months ahead and 75% of our guests knew if they were coming then anyway.
