Saturday vs Sunday wedding

claudia, on October 4, 2017 at 5:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 40

I'm torn between Saturday & Sunday because Saturday is obviously more convenient for guest but everything is cheaper for Sunday weddings. Also, I plan having my wedding on labor day weekend which is a 3 day weekend for most people. Help me decide!

Im doing mine labor day weekend as well! I would first check with your venue, they may not offer a discount because its a holiday weekend. If they do offer the regular discount I would definitely go with the sunday!

Will your venue honor Sunday pricing for a holiday weekend Sunday? My venue a Sunday during a holiday weekend had the same minimums/charges as a Saturday wedding. Just something to consider.

Hotel prices can be higher over holiday weekends, so can travel in general. But having a 3 day weekend makes a Sunday wedding easier for some.

It's a tossup for me really. I got married on a Sunday of a non-holiday weekend and I didn't hear any complaints from anyone, and had full attendance (with almost everyone staying until the very end).

The people who really want to be there will be there. Simple as that.

You might want to check with your venue for the Sunday price. I know a lot a places that charge Saturday price for Sunday's that fall on holiday weeks.

I personally like Saturday because people can get babysitters that day and can party the whole night.

We are doing a Sunday Memorial Day weekend because it gives guest an opportunity to not have to take time off work. And also we liked the idea of a Sunday wedding. Venue didn't have a price differentiation between Friday/Saturday/Sunday

A Saturday on a non-holiday weekend might be cheaper than a Sunday with the following Monday off.

Have you considered a Friday? That's what we're doing - our venue offered the same discount for Friday and Sunday. It's a couple thousand cheaper than a Saturday.

Do what you want and can afford. You can confirm with your VIPs. Just know that doing a Friday or Sunday could deter some from attending. Mine is a Friday (DW) and some people are unable to make it due to that fact.

Hi date twin!!! We were in the same boat and have people coming from all over the place. My venue offers a wedding weekend so Sat or Sun are the same price. I pretty much just polled my wedding party and they all said Saturday was better for them so, Saturday it is. They want to be able to explore and recoup on Sunday and fly back home to relax on Monday.

Our venue offers 10% off for friday or sunday. Since we are a non holiday weekend we went with friday. I asked most of my family and they all said it would be fine. We will have a 630 ceremony start so shouldnt be too bad.

Sunday of a 3 day weekend is great imo. If you have a lot of guests traveling, holiday weekend travel costs can be really expensive

Definitely double check the pricing for a holiday weekend. Also, a lot of people dislike weddings on holiday weekends because they can't go on vacation. When it comes down to it though, you can't make everyone happy. Choose the day that works for you and those who can make it will come. If you have a Sunday wedding on a non-holiday weekend, you will want to start and end earlier than for Saturday or people may leave early.

Agree with check with your MVPs. I have attended Sunday weddings on a 3 day weekend, and had no issues with it as I work a normal scheduled M-F, however a lot of my friends/family are in the medical profession and holiday weekends are very inconvenient for them. Another thing to consider, is with a lot of OOT guests its a blessing and disguise. You get more time to unwind over the holidays, but it also can be more expensive to travel (I went to a wedding in a beach town over the 4th and the hotels were like 350+ a night, rental cars were a ton, and flights were more...this was pre airnbn and uber days).

It depends on the venue. I looked solely for Sundays because the venue had a drastically lower minimum which was important due to my guest count.

Since it is a holiday weekend, you may run into a lot of issues booking a venue for next year depending on where you are located. If you are in a major metropolitan area, you are going to have to look at a lot of places to get that date. There is also the likelihood that there is no discount on holidays.

Our venue didn't give a discount for Sunday's right next to holidays, so definitely check on that. But I know plenty of people that do Sunday weddings. If it's on a holiday weekend your guests won't have to take off work the next day either

Our venue usually charge Saturday pricing for the Sunday b4 labor day, but honored the Sunday pricing. We picked it cause it felt like a Saturday wedding without the price tag.

I agree with EM, the people who really want to be there will be there.
