Saturday or Sunday - Help Us Decide!

Simone, on May 29, 2019 at 8:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
So, our destination wedding venue is on a rooftop in Tucson, AZ. The way it works is we'll have exclusive access to the roof from 4 to 10, at which point they have to open it up to the public, BUT we can have a private VIP section with bottle service for any guests who want to hang out beyond that time. However, if we do it the next day, on SUNDAY, we will have exclusive access to the rooftop until midnight, another two hours. And it's $500 cheaper--but money isnt really the issue. Of about 60 guests, about 20 will be flying in from NY, so if we do a Sunday they'll be flying bk out Monday. Is it worth it to do a Sunday for that extra private time on the roof? Or just do the Saturday? What would u prefer as an out of town guest?

As any wedding guest (local or OOT), I always prefer a Saturday wedding.

This is know your crowd thing.
Do most of your OOT guests have 9am-5pm type of jobs & have to rush back to be in the office? If yes, Saturday is of course better.
If a lot of your guests are freelancers, business owners, in creative fields etc. then you can do Sunday & party longer.
Are a lot of guests coming with kids? Then staying until midnight will probably not be appealing to them.

It might also be cheaper for people to fly on a Monday rather than flying on a Sunday. Also keep in mind that if you have a Saturday wedding, they might have to fly on a Friday and also have to take time off. I dont think most people will mind either way. I'm a fan of Sunday tho because it saves money and you get a lot more time for less money.

Also keep in mind that it really doesn’t matter what day you choose. Most people will plan to take the time off and make a weekend of it but at the end of the day the people you want there most won’t miss your wedding day!

Most people will probably say Saturday but personally, I like Sunday. That's the day I picked. Besides, some people don't have manners and may try to join your reception-- think wedding crashers. It could happen.

Has to work on Monday will leave early on Sunday anyway. A VIP area seems cool on Saturday night. I think it will be fine.

I’d prefer Saturday absolutely. 4-10 is plenty of time for a wedding

As a bride I would save the $500 because I'm frugal like that.

As a guest I'd prefer a Saturday wedding, but I wouldn't mind attending one on a Sunday.
