Saturday Morning Brunch Wedding Timeline HELP

Danie V., on July 23, 2015 at 11:06 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

The venue that just gave us a proposal has scheduled events like so:

30 min for ceremony

30 min for cocktails

3 hour brunch

Is this too short for our guest count of 60?

Playing devil's advocate - it usually takes people no more than 45 minutes to eat (20 waiting for the food, 15 actually eating). We are having a couple of people giving toasts, a newlywed game, and dancing.

Full bar for those 3 hours.

I think that sounds OK for a brunch wedding (though I have never been to one..)

ETA - are you having music/dancing?

Disclaimer: Never been to a brunch wedding.

Would people actually need 30 min for cocktails without food, in the morning? I'd imagine more just doing the ceremony then sitting down to eat.

I've never been to a brunch wedding either, but I think that looks okay. I'm guessing the cocktail time is also a casual time for people to catch up before they are supposed to be seated and ready for a meal. I think it looks fine.

I am SO jealous you're having a brunch wedding! 3 hours sounds fine. If you need to be out by that time, I'd suggest you and the groom make a grand exit at the end, people wil leave once you're gone (even if you have to drive around the block - haha)

I'm also having a brunch wedding. 30 mins for ceremony, 1 hour "cocktail" hour (this will be so we can do pictures but there won't be alcohol, just light apps), an hour and a half for eating and toasts, 2 and a half hours for dancing.

Hi Danie, I am also having a Saturday brunch wedding and my timeline looks pretty much the same as yours.

    11:30 am ceremony

12:00 noon 30 minute cocktail hour (danishes and beverages)

12:30-4 pm reception with brunch buffet, open bar, sangria station, and DJ/dancing.

@Danie, what time does the ceremony start? Just curious.

I've never been to a brunch wedding but that sounds about right for a timeline.

Just to be 100% clear though - are all of the events at the same venue?

I think it seems fine. I'd definitely keep the cocktail hour limited to cocktails like mimosas and things like that. Maybe sparkling wine with fruit in it? I can't imagine people heading for a full on bar that early without food.

However, I would be all about a mimosa bar...
