Satin in July?!

Nicki, on November 1, 2018 at 6:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
I love this dress. By far my favorite one i have tried on (and it has pockets!).

But...

it is satin and my wedding is outside in July.

Bad idea, right?

It’s a beautiful dress and if the weddings in the evening it might be OK also depending where your wedding is also if you can keep the under skirt layers to a minimum like if you’re planning on wearing it as is, not with a petticoat that will probably help with the heat to. It’s up to you if the heat doesn’t get to you go for it, but if you over heat regularly you might want a back up, or have something lighter for your reception

I think it depends on how heavy the satin is, how warm of a climate you'll be in, and how warm you tend to run.

It’s Jersey in July so it could be over 100 degrees. I’m worried that every spot of sweat will show

It's beautiful! My dress is satin for a July garden wedding (evening) it's an indoor/outdoor combo. I would do some research on how to prevent sweat and sweat stains (one of the best tricks I've found is to have a little fan under the table). If you love the dress go for it!

I'd find something else than. Worrying about sweat spots in Jersey heat and humidity will only make you sweat more! Take the picture of the dress with you shopping and ask for similar dresses in lighter weight fabrics.

I personally wouldn't risk it. You want a fabric that will hide your sweat, not display it for all your guests.

You look beautiful in your dress, and if your wedding was indoors, id say go for it! But an outdoor wedding in the middle of July in a satin dress is not my idea of a good time.

My middle daughter got married this last July and it was in the 90's. Hers was all indoors with the exception of photos. She actually mentioned last weekend that she wishes she had gone with a lighter material because her dress was trashed with sweat and spray on tan residue (different issue) by the end of the night. It's a gorgeous dress, but I do think satin might be too hot unless you don't go outdoors.

I tried that dress on and I thought it was very light. If you’re worried about sweat showing, that’s a different issue. But I don’t think it’s too heavy for summer.

That dress is beautiful I love how it falls at your waist and flairs out a little. I had a similar style with less material on the bottom and I was dying in September dancing. I think you will be very warm, but that's just my opinion.
