Sash or no?

Anonymous, on March 22, 2021 at 5:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

I opted for a very affordable wedding dress from Lulu’s, which I LOVE, but I think the waistband looks just a little cheap in quality, so I thought I might cover it with a sash or belt. But I’m worried it might distract from the lace or just look strange since the waistline on the dress is fairly high. The picture with the sash is just photoshopped on; burgundy is one of our wedding colors so I thought maybe a burgundy sash. I’d love to hear some opinions and suggestions! Thank you!

I’m not personally a fan of the sash. Have you considered a belt?Sash or no? 3

I think the sash makes it look really weird...maybe try to find a belt that matches?? Some of those are really nice!

Thanks for your comment! I’d considered a belt but I was worried the bling might be too much with the lace, or that a belt might not be wide enough to cover the dress’s waistband. But perhaps I should look at some more belt options!

Thanks for the suggestion! Just curious, what do you think of the dress as is without any belt or sash? I’m not sure if the “cheap” look of the waistband is all in my head or whether it looks fine as is.

I think a sparkly belt would complete the look! Don’t cover the existing waistband all the way, use something thin and delicate just to add a little more interest in that area. The problem with a sash is that it may be too think and bold for that soft dress on your smaller frame. Overall the dress is very pretty!

I don't think it looks cheap! I just think maybe a little bling will really bring it all together!

I actually like the sash if you're wanting a pop of color! i went for a belt with some rhinestones though as PP suggested. i do think on its own its nice already but adding a little extra helps it stand out more

I really like the rhinestone belt...you could have the best of both worlds similar to the picture (google burgundy rhinestone wedding belt for a variety of options).

A velvet sash with a bow towards the back could be pretty. Sash or no? 5

I also got my dress from Lulu's and I've been leaning towards a thin rhinestone/beaded belt to add a little something to it. My dress is all lace and I think the belt adds a little pop and brings it all together as it would yours!

I think the "cheap" look is all in your head and that it looks fabulous as is! I actually think the burgundy sash in the 2nd pic looks a little piecemeal and cheap. I would recommend a skinny sparkly belt that sits on top of the current waistband or just leave as is.

The bling would compete. Stick to the burgundy ribbon sash in your 2nd picture
