Sapphire (or other non-Diamond) rings

Steffany, on September 10, 2015 at 11:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

We just started ring shopping, and I'm leaning towards a white sapphire ring instead of a diamond. I know there are plenty of options online, but I'd like to be able to try on my rings before committing to them. Did anyone have any luck shopping for non-diamond rings?

I'm getting a ruby ring. I did well picking my second e-ring online, just be sure to read the reviews and research the company well. Also have a jeweler to look at it and ensure that you got what you paid for. Neighborhood jewellers usually offer good deals, plus the security of a storefront.

Eta: if you know what type of ring and stone cut look good on your hand, you don't have anything to worry about when purchasing online. If you really committed to trying them on, try a neighborhood jeweler, not a chain.

I LOVE my white sapphire ring. LOVE it. http://nodeform.com/collections/engagement-rings my FH actually got it from Etsy and I didn't get to try it on before I bought it, but it is unique with the way the bezel setting is and I love it. I don't have any suggestions as to trying them on in person, but I had a pretty general idea of the band width and style I wanted so it worked out well ordering from Nodeform.

I have a yellow sapphire and couldn't be happier. At the jeweler we picked out the setting and then they order several sapphires in and then we chose the one we liked best. They told us that if we didn't like any they could order more until we found one that we were happy with.

Mine is a blue sapphire. My FH researched and looked for months until he found this one. I love my ring!

I got an emerald since it's my birthstone, easy choice. FH and FMIL picked mine out though.

Mine is a sapphire (blue). It's also an antique. FH found it at a local shop, on his own. The only input he had from me was that I wanted a sapphire, no diamonds.

I wanted a white stone but didn't care about a diamond. I have a moissanite which I love, but they are hard to find in B&M stores. We ordered online.

Etsy has a TON of beautiful white sapphire rings (and other stones). You can always go try on styles at a jeweler and then look for a similar style online.

I went with an amethyst ring from Gemvara. I am so happy with it! People compliment it all the time =)

I don't like diamonds at all. FH and my 19 yr old daughter went shopping for a ring for me, with the only input of; no diamonds, I want a tanzanite. Daughter picked the setting, FH told them to put the best tanzanite they had in it.

You may not be able to pick out a ring set with the stone you want at a jeweler, but you can always look at the engagement sets. They will set it with whatever stone(s) you want. FH had to order my ring, but its still in a 'standard' engagement solitare setting.

My center stone is a light blue sapphire. FH knew I wanted a colored center stone and was giving lots of options at the jeweler.

I have always wanted a blue sapphire with diamond Halo. I have always loved Princess Diana/ Kate Middleton's engagement ring. I like that its a little different. I can't wait to wear it for the rest of my life!

My fiance looked for about 6 months. There are a lot of options when it comes to colored stones. I thought that gems would be cheaper than a diamond as well, but my ring ended up being just as much as an oval diamond he looked at.
