Sandals Royal Bahamian - opinions, advice, all welcome!

Heather, on January 8, 2013 at 11:14 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6

Hey ladies! So, I think we've decided on Sandals Royal Bahamian for our honeymoon. I'd love to hear from people that have been there to get their thoughts/opinions. Anything you can offer would be very much appreciated. What I would really like to know though is about the nightlife and what is outside of the resort/how close/how to get there, etc....Thanks!

This is going to be a much better resource for such information:

You can also PM people on TA if somebody's review seems particularly useful to you.

The resort is beautiful - sandals itself is probably one most luxury style hotels in the caribbean; they have no casino but you can go to Atlantis which is about 15-20 minutes away; horse drawn carriage ride through downtown Nassau; of couse the famous straw markets; very pretty gardens; my favorite restaurants are the Bahamian Club, Graycliff Restaurant and Black Angus Grille

I have the same question! My fiancé and I are going to be married in the end of October. We never splurge but we've decided to do a Sandals all inclusive resort for our honeymoon! The pictures are just gorgeous from I can see on the website. We are undecided which location we will go with. He has been everywhere except for the Bahamas and Virgin Islands so I'm thinking we will choose one of those options! If anybody has any suggestions please feel free to share! Thank youSmiley smile

I second Mrs. S with going to trip advisor- they have TONS of reviews and helpful hints there- but keep an open mind some people are REALLY picky.

For instance- we're looking at Sandals Montego Bay (original) and a lot of people complain about the planes flying overhead, but a lot of people think they're fun... lol I've heard it's hard to get away from airplanes no matter what island you're on...they're all so tiny the planes need to land somewhere!

@Heather, I've stayed at Royal Bahamian a few times. It's a nice resort with a decent beach and a cute offshore island. Be careful with the room categories (read the descriptions carefully) as some are tucked away in the gardens with no view. They just re-did the Balmoral Tower, and there are some gorgeous rooms in that building!

I'll also throw in my usual advice to work with a travel professional on this trip. Sandals, in particular, is very adamant that their prices are the same regardless of the sourse (whether you book directly with the resort, through an online "DIY" site, or with a professional travel agent) -- so why not get the (free) advice and guidance of a travel agent to make sure everything goes smoothly?
