Sand Ceremony vs Unity Candle

Shelby, on August 20, 2018 at 2:34 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6
Hello WW brides,
So I am thinking of doing a sand ceremony to unite my FH mom and dad and my grandparents and us.
But whats the difference between the sand ceremony and the unity candle ceremony?

We are doing the sand ceremony as we can't have open flame in our venue. I mean is there really a difference? One just lights the min candle with the smaller ones and the other intermingles the different bodies of sand into 1.

Sand Ceremony vs Unity Candle 1

We are doing the Unity Cord instead -- i ordered this on Etsy! It's based on Ecclesiastes 4:9-13.

They are all intended to generally mean the same thing. Cord, sand, candle.

There is no difference between a sand or candle unity ceremony. They represent the same thing. If you wanted to include more people you could do a reverse unity candle ceremony which is what we did. We lit the unity candle and then started the chain of having each of our guests' candles lit.
