Sand Ceremony - Colors of Sand

HeWasHeavenSent, on August 20, 2013 at 1:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

For those of you who did or are doing the Sand Ceremony, how did you select your sand colors? Did you base it off of your wedding colors or did you find the meanings of the sand colors and select what most closely reflected yours/FH's personality and/ or your marrige?

I purchased sand... My colors are purple and green. BUT... I have 3 kids whom I also wanted ito be a part of the ceremony. so, not only did I have to get two colors, I had to get three additional!

I was going to get colors that each of the kids picked, but nothing was looking right.

So I ended up getting black, white, sage (green), purple, and tan (light brown)

Great question! I am thinking wedding colors, I don't love orange and purple together as sand, but we also have green in our wedding (green grapes) so I am thinking purple and green

Most of my couples pick sand based on the meaning of the color.

I picked turquoise because its my favorite color and one of the wedding colors. Plus it's one of the main colors in my decor, and we are displaying it in the house. The other color is tan, but it just made sense cause they went together well. I didn't even realize they had meanings...lol

@Celia do you know where I can find the meaning of the colors of sand? I found a couple on Google, but there were just a few colors. I'm looking for something a bit more meaningful than what I've seen so far.

We did wedding colors (red and brown), but they're also my favorite colors and a big part of the decor in our household, so it works Smiley smile

Most of my couples use natural sand. Part of the reading is that the grains can not be easily separated and neither can their lives.

We are doing the sand ceremony with my 3 kids. Everyone picked out their own color, din't matter how it looked cause it symbolizes each of us as individuals coming together as a family. We are also doing it so that mine and fh seperate colors surround each of kids colors and FH's at top. So it goes FH, Oldest Child, ME, FH, Midlle child, ME, FH, youngest Child, ME and then topped with FH color.

We did blue and white. Blue and green were our colors, but we liked the look of the blue and white. It looks great! Smiley smile I didn't even think to figure something to represent us or our marriage... I don't have a favorite color though, so that would have been hard for me. (I'm a designer, I love all colors!)

Well we were going to do our wedding colours (slate blue & dusty rose), turns out the meanings for light blue & pink fit us perfectly so it works. We are going with a base of rock also. Which is our "trio". God is our rock on Whom our relationship is built. We decided on this instead of a knot ceremony.
