Has anyone bought a sample dress from David's Bridal as their wedding gown? If so, how did it turn out? Pics please!

For my first wedding I bought a sample dress. It was beautiful, but I ended marrying the wrong guy. So for my 2nd wedding (and last one. lol) 3 months ago, I knew I wanted a brand new dress. Check out Dillards. They have a beautiful selection, and my dress was exactly what I was looking for. See a pic bellow my sister took for me Smiley smile

Most of the time they require a lot of repair. Unless it an absolute steal. And even with expensive repairs it's still a good price. Unless you can't live without it I wouldn't . I asked about repairing beading on one I saw. And a seamstress said it would be 300. To repair!

Same as Cassie I was the first and only person to try on my dress at a boutique shop. I didn't get full discount on it but partial

The main reason I'm trying to go a more bargain route is because I just know I'm going to damage the dress anyway lol. My family and I party hard from start to finish plus it's an outdoor reception and some areas are gravel. Also, the dress is for the reception only! I'll be having a traditional Hindu ceremony and that outfit is going to cost me an arm and a leg. I'm so glad to hear that most of you got what you wanted, but I'll definitely keep in mind the risk of getting a damaged dress. I also didn't know boutique shops sold samples too, that's good to know.

I purchased a sample but not from Davids. I have to get it cleaned, due to some minor staining on the train, but it was a Martina Liana for $900

I didn't buy my gown at DB, but I assume it just depends on the dress! Some may be worn (and worn and worn) so they don't look like they did on day 1. I lucked out with a dress that was only a few weeks old and in my size! I was able to walk out with it the same day. I like that I don't have to wait for it to come in, and if push came to shove I could fit in it today. Best of luck!

@Nan Thank you Nan Smiley smile I forgot to mention that Dillards has a seamstress on location. I needed to fix the top a bit, and it was only $25!!! The bottom was a bit long, and it was going to be $35 to cut it, but my mom is very handy, and she did that part for me. Good Luck Smiley smile

I did not get my dress from there, however I'm a little confused by everyone who's worried about the cost of repairing a dress that's a sample. I used to work at David's and I was always told that the store covered the cost of repairing any damages to sample bought dresses. I sold lots of sample dresses, and my sister wore a same dress from them and she looked beautiful.

@FutureMrsWelch that's really good to know!

To update you all I found this AMAZING Kitty Chen sample dress on sale at a boutique in CA for $98!! I decided to take a leap of faith and bought it without trying it on. It shipped so quickly (I live in Fl) and was in GREAT condition. It fit really nicely too but unfortunately I wasn't absolutely in love with it after trying it on. I'm probably going to resell it on Craigslist but it is seriously a beautiful gown and quite a steal!

Mine was a sample dress. It was in perfect condition!! Just had to take it in many sizes, add cups, and bustle it.

I didn't find a dress at David's Bridal but I am buying a sample dress from another boutique. It only had two flaws in the dress but they are either barely noticeable and/or an easy fix during the alterations process. I'm only nervous about having the length adjusted and maintaining weight. I was originally going to lose weight but I'm afraid I'll go down too much and make alterations more difficult because it's already a little too big.

I bought a sample dress, but it was not from DB. It was from preownedweddingdresses.com, and it was only $130!

I think it depends. My BFF got a sample dress from there and it was beautiful. If there were any flaws, i certainly couldn't tell!

Bought one as a sample from there. Just make sure you're ok with having some minor spots here and there. I love mine!
