Sage burning at ceremony

Amber, on September 18, 2019 at 2:57 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10
I'm totally thinking about having this at my wedding ceremony. Not sure how though maybe before the ceremony like before I walk down the aisle. Anyone got any ideas?? Or has done this at their ceremony?

This is random, but I'm pretty sure when Krystal & Chris got married on Bachelor in Paradise (TV show) they did it so maybe Google it for a youtube video to see how it turned out?

I am going to sage our ceremony space before the wedding. I also plan to scatter herbs that represent love, protection, and happiness before our guests arrive. If you wish to include this in your ceremony and know your officiant personally I might ask them to do this, if not maybe a family member? If your wedding party are not all carrying something (and are old enough to carefully carry something that will be burning) they could do this for you. Will your ceremony be outside? If not I would not recommend this as part of the ceremony, allergies and asthma are no joke and could definitely disturb the ceremony.

We're planning our ceremony to be outside. Definitely going to sage inside the venue that day of before our ceremony then outside where were having the ceremony.
I love sage and lavender💜💚 those are actually our wedding colors sage and lavender.

I wanted to scatter lavender but our future daughter in law is highly allergic so I'll definitely be skipping that. I love the wedding colors, they're very meaningful plants too.

I would recommend doing it the day before, as you mentioned. I love sage and have used sage in my house, but the scent can be overpowering to those who aren't used to it.

There's an event happening day before our wedding but we get the keys to it at 8am in the morning. We're having our ceremony outside (hopefully) unless it rains then we will be inside.

Do you regularly smoke cleanse your home or other spaces?

There are religious and cultural bases bases in this and if you aren’t used to doing it you really may want to smoke cleanse the space and set your intentions the evening before your ceremony.

Well since I have a native american heritage I grew up with sage burning. My grandparents (my grandpa is native american) do it and so does my mother and I've always done it. It's something I've always known. And I was talking to both my grandparents and my mom they asked if I was going to sage the venue the day of and I said I wanted to but not sure the rules of the venue.

I would love to do it the evening before but the venue is having an event there so my only option is to do it the day of early in the morning when we get the keys to the venue and since venue is at 5:30 that evening and will be outside.
