Rustic Wedding in NJ/Upstate NY Area

Kayleigh, on November 17, 2012 at 10:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

My fiancé and I are having a difficult time finding a unique wedding venue. We've been to the typical wedding venues, such as The Manor, Mayfair Farms, but we realize we're looking for something more "us" like a barn or garden. We are very artsy/creative people. We definitely want an outdoor ceremony with a plan if it rains and would like to have the reception inside at the same place. The problem is barns seem to be outrageous in price. We're planning a September 2014 wedding with 100 - 150 guests and our budget for the entire wedding is $20k. We would love to spend less though.

Crossed Keys (I was there today; it's gorgeous)

    Inn at Ferndale Farms

Camp Rickabear, in Kinnelon (also Silas Condict Park in Kinnelon0

    Perona Farms

    Bayonet Farms

    Grounds for Sculpture (Princeton)

    Chauncey Conference Center (Princeton)

The Hermitage, in Ho Ho Kus

    Museum of Morris County

    Newark Museum

    Montclair Museum

    Caitlin Gardens (Slate Hill NY)

    Chateau Hathorne (Warwick, NY)

    Overlook Lodge (Bear Mountain, NY)

These are all a little offbeat, but I'd really try to keep to 100 guests if you want to stay in budget, especially for two years from now......

    Good luck!

    C

I do apologize for not responding back to any of you. My emails were going to spam and I didn't even realize. Thank you for all your suggestions! I have looked at majority of them and they just don't seem to be what we want, and many cost way too much. We'll just have to keep looking! Smiley smile

    Hi Kayleigh,

Let me also suggest Historic Prallsville Mills, Stockton, NJ great unique space that is a historic grist mill so it has a very "barn" rustic and unique feel to it, or the Mill Society's newest unique historic property offering the 1850's RiverHouse both would be pretty in reach with your projected total budget. You can find pictures from both spaces on our Wedding Wire page, Facebook and Pinterest Pages. If you're free there is a Wedding Showcase this weekend at the Prallsville Mills, you see it listed on our Wedding Wire Events Page or Facebook as well.

Best of wishes in your search!

Brillman's Rental Barn: I did consider you. I called you, left a message, and e-mailed you. I never heard back. But thanks anyway.

@Samantha Renee: Thank you! Sadly, no. We have exhausted almost every possibility in NJ & Upstate NY. We have one last place to look at in PA (The Stroudsmoor Country Inn) and if that isn't it, we are going to have the wedding on his parents' property in Germantown, NY. It's really beautiful there. I made a different post titled "Backyard Wedding" to get some help from other brides...they've been really helpful so if we do end up doing that, I know it will still be wonderful!

Hello ladies! Pretty new to the site. I know I'm a little late on responding, but I'm curious if you liked Stroudsmoor. I'm getting married there in Jan 2014! It's beautiful there in September and they have a range of good prices with many optoins Smiley smile

Hi Dana, we actually did go there recently! A friend of mine got married there. It's gorgeous. But we decided to have the wedding on his parents' property instead. Felt like the right decision all along! Smiley smile
