Rural lakeside wedding in Southern California?

Amanda, on January 4, 2011 at 3:19 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 9

I would really appriciate some ideas, help, suggestions, etc regarding placement for my wedding. I'm recently enageged and no date has been set yet, so I have some time on my hands to find a place my fiance and I both agree on.

We're hoping for a rural lakeside wedding for about 100 guests. I live in Southern California and the "lakeside" part has been very difficult to find without it being at a Country Club or another $20k venue.

We're hoping to spend around $10k or less on a ceremony/reception and (ideally) would love a lakeside wedding. The photo with this post is the main influence for the lake wedding idea.

Does anyone have an idea how this can be done?

You can contact Christian Brothers Retreat - Mont La Salle Chapel, The Condor's Nest Ranch or Culver Event Center - you might want to also consider having your wedding on a week day

Check out parks that have a large water feature. I don't know if they do weddings, but Pollywog Park in Manhattan Beach has a huge lake. I usually see people doing pictures there. Or, you could try to go up to Arrowhead or Big Bear Lake.

I would look in the Fallbrook area. There are some lakeside venues there.

I would look at puddingstone resort in san dimas--they let you bring your own caterer and have a nice view of the lake

Or if you want to go extremely inexpensive... check out local parks that have lakes.

This one is in Irwindale and is really pretty, I checked their website and they've held weddings there before. The only downside is bringing in your own table/chair rentals as well as caterer and such.

PM me with your email. I can get you in contact with the golf course I work for in So. Cal. We have an amazing wedding venue and the setting has our lake to the left. It's well within your budget.

    Wow - I sound like a vendor, don't I? lol!

If you're in the L.A./Ventura area you might want to check out Bocaccio's by the Lake in Westlake Village. Not exactly rural, but I think they're fairly affordable for a wedding.
