Rude wedding coordinator

Sarah, on December 31, 2019 at 3:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

So I'm recently engaged and have been messaging a venue that I'm in love with. I've sent her a few questions I wanted to know before we set up a time to meet in person. And she's starting to catch an attitude me. Its really left a bad taste with this location now and I'm unsure if I should move forward. I have a feeling I'm going to love the venue when/if I go to the appoinment but if the event manager is a pain is it really worth it?

If you feel like she’s being rude, I wouldn’t continue looking at that venue. What has she done that’s made you feel that way?

What did she say to make you feel like she had an attitude? Communication via email can be very tricky to tell how someone might mean something.

I wouldn't continue to pursue a venue if you are going to need to work with miserable people.

There is a farm in my town that does weddings and has a mixed reviews on WW. If you read through them, you'll realize all the positive reviews are from a while ago, and all of the reviews within the past few years are quite negative. That's because the farm hired a new events coordinator a few years ago, and apparently she's really terrible. Nothing else about the venue has changed - its a historical property so the building and grounds look very much the same as they did 10 years ago - but the reviews pretty much do a 180 once this woman is in charge.

    Not worth it!

Girl run! If she is already giving you bad vibes it's not worth it.

I would say if you are already feeling that way that you should look elsewhere.

I would still go and meet with her.
She could just come across that way via text.

Definitely is worth it. Dont let some gremlin determine whether you get your dream locale. Personally, id be taking my fiance with me, so we can make fun of her after we're out of earshot...

Is the “attitude“ via phone or email? I’d view the venue in person and see if her attitude is the same way in person, once you meet. If so, then don’t book it if that’s going to bother you. But, don't completely cut it off the list just yet.

Sometimes email doesn't imply the intended tone. Maybe if you called her/met in person it would be different? If she's still difficult even then, I'd move on.

NO. As someone who had a BEAUTIFUL venue with a HORRIBLE events coordinator, I will tell you it is NOT worth it. She really ruined a huge amount of my planning experience and made my life more difficult and stressful than I could imagine.

It sucks to give up the venue but, please learn from my mistakes and if someone doesn’t seem thrilled and excited to work with you from the beginning, move on. There will be other venues with coordinators who will appreciate your and your business!
