Dedicated December 2019

Rsvps

Hi All,

I'm wondering when I should send out invitations and have people RSVP by. The wedding is December 21st. The hotel reservations are due by November 21st, and the reception venue needs a head count by December 7th. My FH doesn't want the stress of dealing with people that don't RSVP, so his sister has agreed to call the people (on his side) that do not respond to the RSVP. He has about 110 people being invited so I'm fine with that. I'm only inviting about 50 people so I don't have any problem getting in contact with mine. My FH is insisting that we send out invites on October 7th, and ask for RSVPs to come back by November 11th, so we can get in contact with the people that don't respond. His sister can put a call out to his invites and ask if they will be coming sometime during that week, and then a follow up phone call the next week saying if they don't respond by November 25th (or another date around that) they will be counted as not attending. I know we need to work around the Thanksgiving holiday, but at the same time I am worried that people will not mark it on their calendar and will end up being no shows. Do these dates sound reasonable? Thanks!

Yes, your dates all sound very reasonable. Invites traditionally go out 6-8 weeks before the wedding, with the RSVP deadline about a week before you need to give your final head count to your venue/caterer. This way you have a little time to track down the non-responders.

The dates sound good. People may forget, but it will be on their calendars before Thanksgiving so they will be reminded. It will also help having the RSVP stuff sorted out before the holiday season starts so you are also able to enjoy them!

We’re getting married December 14th. Oddly enough our response date is November 15th. So I would say YES they are very reasonable!!!
