Rsvps?

Jessica, on August 24, 2019 at 2:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
How is everyone that is collecting RSVPs doing? Our deadline is August 28th and we're waiting on 32 people. We gave ourselves extra time to follow up with people since we knew we'd have to do that with some. Shout out to Zola for making the RSVPs really easy to track 😂 Ready for this part to be over though!!

That is so many people left! Hopefully you won’t have to call all of them this week. My invites just went out last week and the deadline isn’t til October. So far I’ve gotten one text and zero in the mail. I know it’s early but save the dates went out a while ago so I thought at least my close family would have returned the cards or said something! That empty mailbox is so sad.

I'm using wedding wire's RSVP system by directing guests to go to our wedding website and RSVP through there. It has worked well so far.

I think some people maybe wait until THAT DAY? Not sure.. It's like pulling teeth though lol. Ready for this part to be done. We only did online RSVPs so we're going to start contacting people next week 😬

I'm not at this stage yet (thank goodness!), but from everything I read here, people often wait until the last day, and many do not RSVP at all.

The advice given is always to wait until the deadline that you gave people to respond. Then a day or two later, anyone you haven't heard from, you'll have to personally contact to get a firm yes or no. All of us have head counts due to our venues/caterers, so we have to have as accurate a number as we can get. There's no other way to do it. A lot of people will say, "oh, well, you knew I was coming...." as if that means they don't have to actually RSVP. Wrong! But it seems these days most people are ignorant of the proper etiquette when receiving an invitation of this nature, and maybe plan to go, but don't let anyone know. Most brides/grooms on here have had to track people down for an answer--some more than others. So, be grateful if your number is low, I guess. You can split up your list, too. Give FH his people, and you do yours. Good luck.

    Hi again date twin!! lol
haaa sooo we have 255 invited (omg) and we have 88 yes, 4 no, which leaves us at 163 left
we set our rsvp date for September 1st. sooo yea. But we have a plan to implement our phone calling later that week once we give all the last second rsvpers a chance to put them in
Granted, a lot of those are multiple people to one invite, so it wont be like we have to call 163 total people even if no one else rsvps

Oh for sure!! FH, my mom, me & my MoH (if she is available, she's offered) will definitely do so.
And right!!! Like it kind of even makes me wonder if they've ever even gone to a party before! IDK any host who is ok with not knowing if they'll have enough food or space for guests, RSVPing is not unheard of lol
And thanks!! Same to you!! (maybe we'll have to check in and compare how many we had to call in the end versus where we stand now after our rsvp dates)

I have one month til the wedding and still waiting on about 80 replies.... It's annoying but not stressing me out *yet*. I really want to have plenty of people there to have fun with!
We have postcards that came with our invitations & I've created a spread sheet with a section for name address & yes or no with how many people plus a section for gifts in case they send it early!

So September 1st came and went, and as I'm sitting here trying to collect RSVPs I remembered this thread you started.
    Girl

    GIRL
    OMG

By the 2nd we "only" had 136 left pending
I started sending out messages yesterday and have continued to work on it today.
Got it down to 109 Pending so far

    BUT the messages!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG
"Yes, I am coming, was I supposed to RSVP somewhere?" (it says right on the invitation)
"I forgot what day and time the wedding is?" (but you know where it is right??? cause all thats on an invite.... maybe you're riding with someone else and I should give you benefit of the doubt butttttttt.........)
"Oh, we have a vacation planned that week" (had a few of these, some I feel are reasonable but two that just seem all too convenient)
"No" (Ok I get its an rsvp but I had to hunt you down to ask after the date and you wanna be like that about it, cant even say something nice... OK THEN thanks SO MUCH)

I just cant even believe some of this stuff. Hope your RSVP hunting has been going easier than mine!!!! lmao

Oh my goodness girl!! SO frustrating!! Luckily we are done, we divided and conquered, but man, definitely the more stressful part of this whole thing was collecting RSVP's. One "friend" I messaged from college to say hi and make sure she got her invite, read my message, but never responded. Sooooo thanks.. would have taken literally 10 seconds to write, "sorry, I can't make it!", but to not respond at all (and she's been posting on facebook since)... cool. Haha.

I feel like if you are important enough to be invited to something like a wedding, you should have enough decency to provide an answer.. but I guess some people think not?

Definitely ready for the planning part to be done!!

    Hang in there girl!!

Oh gosh I'm so glad you've at least got yours done. FH has the next few days off so he will start tackling some of them tomorrow, but I'm anxious to just have it done so I started without him or my mom.
And OMGGGG wow.... yea some friend indeed! Like I don't even know what to say about that. Like if you don't know if you can, at least say "I'd like to but I don't know, could I possibly let you know soon?" (my one cousin did that, cause of work, and luckily I have a little time I can give her, & since she explained I don't mind but I mean at least she let me know whats up, unlike your "friend")

Its just so amazing how much people don't have respect for the work their friends and family put into these kinds of things!!!
