Rsvps!

Samantha, on July 12, 2019 at 5:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15
I’m starting to design my invitations to send sometime in mid to late September (Dec 7th wedding). Our venue needs final count by Nov 22nd. How many weeks in advance of your final count date did you request your RSVPs be in by? I’m thinking of having RSVPs be due three weeks prior to the final count date, giving us some time to track those that didn’t respond. Wondering what other people did and did it work out well?

Hey date twin!! We're sending ours out by the end of July with a deadline of October 15th. A little early, yes, but over half of our guest list is traveling and I have military family members. So the earlier the better. Also, some of our vendors are asking for counts early November so we need time to track people down if needed.

I kicked RSVP out the door and estimated who we knew really was gonna show and added about 50 to be sure there was enough food... we had 178 RSVP approx and about 90 showed.. I estimated catering for 150 people... we ended up w 2 pieces of meat left because there were people sneaking food 2 their car smh lol

It’s incredible! We were supposed to have a tasting tomorrow but that got reschedule. Instead we’re having a date day and popping in on our baker and florist to pay a little more toward our balances.

I've been listening to the WeddingPlanningPodcast and she suggests 4 weeks before the wedding. We have ours due 3.5 weeks before our wedding which is about a week before our venue asked for them. Granted, I didn't know what our venue wanted until after I set the RSVP date but still.

I'm requesting mine a month in advance from the date that they need to be in. Our venue says final head count deadline in 10 days prior. No way am I waiting that close.

I had mine the way you described and it did work out better because believe me.. people now a days are terrible at rsvp'ing so you'll need to account for laggers

You should ask vendors when they need final counts then set it for a week before then so you have time to contact people who haven't responded!

4 Weeks is pretty standard... During our planning, we found that knowing the number is really important because it plays into the rentals, the servings, the number of favors, programs, etc. It was stressful trying to get everything in gear and not knowing how many people we needed to consider. Fortunately, we received all our RSVPs prior to our written deadline... which was so nice because we didn't want to track people down! If you use theKnot, they have a feature that will send a text reminder to your invited guests if they haven't responded. This seemed to be a helpful reminder. It is so great having a number to work with now! Your guests will have plenty of time to send RSVPs back.

Luckily my venue is pretty much all inclusive so we are only working with one date! I’m thinking of having RSVPS due three weeks prior to the final count date to account for the people lagging behind so we can contact them

I know some people are just so bad about responding! I’m glad you have luck with 3 weeks prior to your final count date, that’s what I’m leaning towards!
