RSVPing After Deadline

Mariah, on May 15, 2017 at 8:51 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

How are you guys handling guest who rsvp after the deadline? Are you making exceptions? Or denying their RSVP ? I have 60 guest who have not RSVP'd and today is my cut off date. I feel like I may get more RSVPs back after today.

You are supposed to call them a few days after the deadline to follow up. Things get lost in the mail, people forget, etc. Call them up and ask if they are coming.

My cut-off date was Saturday. I'm giving people until Wednesday before I start hunting them down. My final count is due to my venue this upcoming Saturday.

Give them a few days in case they mailed the RSVP back today so it has time to arrive in your mailbox. Then call, text, or otherwise contact each non-RSVP and follow up with them.

You should probably call them to check. Sometimes things get lost in the mail, so you don't want someone to have RSVP'd and then not have food when they show up. Also people lose track of time, I know if I don't respond immediately I will probably be late to RSVP.

We asked for online responses, through the RSVP function, of our wedding website. We heard from 248 of 250 guests 10 days before our due date.

The errant 2 were my uncle and his wife, who my grandmother followed-up with, since she talks to them on a weekly basis.

Give yourself an extra week. If they have cards to mail-back, many don't do it until the requested date.

It's time to make some phone calls. Don't write them off just yet.

Give yourself a week and then call to follow up. When is your final count due ? We are date twins and my rsvp deadline isn't until June 1 and i gave myself a little over a week for follow up calls if needed....?

I gave people a few days after and followed up with a phone call. Some people just straight up forgot and felt terrible, others said that they mailed it and I never received them. Just follow up and your guests will give you a verbal confirmation of if they're coming or not.

My REAL cut off is today, when my final numbers need to be submitted.

My RSVP date was a while back (yes breaking rules). So if they RSVP after the date required on the invitation, so long as it's before my final number date to the venue, I will accommodate.

After the RSVP date, I followed up with those who I did not hear from.

I contacted them to find out whether they are coming.

Things get lost in the mail, or maybe something hectic was going on.

It's courteous to contact people to find out for sure.

ETA: I had a very early RSVP date. I expected people to be late. As long as I have a response by the "final numbers" date, I will accept my guests. I want them there, after all.

It was my mother's wedding so she dealt with that part. The venue needed by a specific date and we started contacting people. A few people backed out the day of. Seriously if they back out the day of, they really need better excuses haha. My suggestion is start texting/facebook messaging and then call a little later.

I feel like a month and a half is a little early, some people can't request time off more than a month in advance.
