rsvp

Veronica, on June 10, 2019 at 11:58 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
So our deadline for RSVPs is Friday. My fiance's former boss just retired at the end of May. He handed in his work phone which was the only means of communication we had. He hasn't RSVP'd as of yet. I don't know what to do if he doesn't. My fiance thinks we should just assume he isn't attending if he doesn't RSVP, but I don't think that's a good idea. We do have his address obviously since we sent him an invitation. My only thought is to send him a letter if he doesn't respond saying that if we don't here by x date that we will put him as no. Any other suggestions?

Surely someone at your fiance's work has either a personal number or email address for him?

I agree. Could you reach out on Facebook (if he has a profile)? If not, I’d just count him as a no.

    I agree with Mrs.H.
I would suggest for your fiance to ask around if anyone has his personal number or email.
If not, I would assume he isn't coming. I don't think I would go as far as sending a follow up handwritten note.

He used work phone as his personal phone as well. He is about 67 and can barely text or use a computer so he only had email for work and certainly doesn't have a Facebook. My fiance said his idea of typing on a computer is children pecking. I have checked to see if his wife has a Facebook, but I haven't seen that she does. His son-in-law also works for the company and said that as long as he has known his father-in-law he has always used the work phone as his personal phone so he doesn't even know how to contact him.

I would imagine he has a land line at his home, you could use a phone book, or google to locate a phone number associated with his home address. Or, if it isn’t far you could always drop by in person.

I’m sure the son-in-law knows someone (his wife?) who knows how to get ahold of him, I would see if you are able to get contact info or pass a message through the son in law that’s “if we don’t hear from you by x we will consider you a no”

I will probably look online to see if he has a landline.

IKR! I was thinking the same thing. I think it's a "no" and that's ok lol.
