Hello, so I am very stuck on when I should send a RSVP. My fiancé’s family is pretty big and some live in different states. We made a list and it’s 200 people not including kids nor friends , only family. I would really like to get a headcount on everyone that’s coming but I don’t know if it might be too early to let them know about the wedding.

You can send a save the date about a year out to give people a heads up but I wouldn’t count on a headcount from it. Invitations go out 2-3 months before the wedding with the RSVP date a week or two before you need to give your caterer final numbers.

Our wedding is in May of 2021, so should I wait for May and then send a save the date?

Yeah I would wait until May! You can’t book travel or accommodations more than a year out and it might cause some confusion if people don’t look at the year.

Because ours is a destination wedding we are sending the save the dates out in March. Then sending RSVP's in October.

Our wedding is 2/22. We sent out the save the dates the end of July, and our invitations at the end of December. We were getting worried about sending our invitations out so late, but we didn't want to bombard our guests' mailboxes during Christmas time and we were worried about them getting lost in the sauce of Christmas mail.

We set our RSVP date for February 1st and besides two people, everyone responded by then so it all worked out fine!
