rsvp

Hello Everyone,

My wedding is in May of 2021, I know I'm early in terms of thinking about invites and RSVP's. But I heard about guests being able to scan a QR code for their RSVP instead of mailing back a response. I thought this is a great idea since my sister in law had such a hard time with people not returning the RSVP cards. Has anyone dealt with this before? If so, can you explain how it works?

I have not done it, nor do I have experience with it (hopefully another commenter will) but just wanted to chime in and say, unless you're inviting all "younger" people, this will probably get real confusing, real quick for parents and grandparents (aunts, uncles, etc). Just something to take into consideration!

I feel like if people have to get an app to scan a QR code that's too complicated, I wouldn't do that myself as a guest.

What I'm doing is hoping that people will RSVP through our wedding website. I plan to say that in the invitation that RSVPing online through our website is preferred, but also providing the option to send in the response for people that prefer to mail.

I was still going to include the RSVP cards, but figured the code would come in handy with people on the go. I know with a majority of things being done online, people tend to forget to drop things in mailboxes.

Some people don't return the replies so you have to contact them. But most will. Not everyone has access to a QR reader so bear that in mind. Just send reply cards in your invites to everyone.

We decided to put on the back of our invitation to RSVP via our wedding website. I figured that the “tech savvy “ people would be able to figure it out and that the not so technology people would also be the same people who would probably forget to put the RSVP card in the mail and that I would have to call them anyway (lots of friends in recent years complained a bunch of people didn’t send back RSVP cards)... my thought process was save money on buying extra postage and limit the weight of the invitation

You usually don’t have to get a specific app in order to use a QR code, just your phone’s camera should recognize it and offer to open the link. It would be a quicker way than having a guest have to type in a website. The code could insure they made it to the right website. I’ve already had a friend tell me should couldn’t get to my wedding website. I really have no clue what the issue was because I typed it exactly from how it was printed on the Save the Dates and got there just fine.

I know my guests pretty well and plan to send a typical RSVP card to my older guests and those I know don’t use technology. But digital RSVPs are definitely a way to (1) cut some expenses and (2) get a quicker response on who’s coming.
