Hi there! I’m about 2 months out from the big day! 🙈 high key freaking out! With that said I want to know what you guys think of traditional RSVP cards vs online RSVP. My mom’s side is very much old school and I’m scared that they won’t RSVP online if I do that. I want to hear ya’ll’s pros and cons on both!

We are doing online RSVPs through the knot for a few reasons. 1. There’s no risk of them being lost in the mail, 2. You don’t have to pay for postage, 3. It’s much more convenient for guests. They don’t have to run out to the post office and can rsvp from home, 4. This is the biggest one. On the Knot you enter peoples names in and when guests rsvp they Cannot add any random people that are not entered into the system. So if we invite John Doe and Jane Doe only, they can only rsvp for themselves. They cannot add their daughter Sally Joe because she’s not entered. If we give them a guest it’ll just say “Janes Guest”. We are not having kids so we thought this would be the easiest way. Even on rsvp cards that say “we have reserved 2 seats in your honor” people still sometimes assume they can invite kids or guests or whatnot. 5. It’s just a huge time saver for guests and for you.

We are sending traditional rsvp cards to older guests, like FHs grandparents, or people that we know aren’t the best with electronics like my aunt! I do think that traditional cards are a bit more classy and traditional which a lot of guests might prefer. I personally like the look of rsvp cards much more than online RSVPs but to me the stuff I listed above outweighs that.

We did online RSVP and it worked out great! We had no issues, even the older folks figured it out with no problem. The pros are saving on stationary, saving on postage, and for the stranglers who RSVP last minute, you get it immediately! It also sends out a “friendly reminder” a week before the deadline, which is VERY convenient.

I understand your mom wanting formal, but it's expensive and -- where is the mailbox these days?? LOL!

I did online RSVP. Just like people don't like checking mail. they don't like finding a mailbox nor going online. You can't win!

I invited 120, I have 71 ONLINE RSVPs thus far.

Technology is making things simpler, so why not?

We did the traditional route. We knew some people simply wouldn't rsvp if we asked them to rsvp online. We ended up then creating a Facebook later on that we invited only those that were invited to the wedding to do they could put if they were attending. This was my husband's idea because about a week before the deadline we still hadn't heard from like 40+ people. I liked the traditional way because I really enjoyed coming home and getting to open the relies. My brother-in-law and his wife choose to use The Knot for RVSPs and they really liked it.
