Rsvp- Website vs Response Card?

Cyndi, on May 15, 2019 at 8:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11
Hello everyone!
I have added a lot of details and information on my wedding website, but people keep asking questions about things that are clearly explained on the website.
I am thinking about only having people RSVP online (which I’m hoping will help direct them to see important information), but I am also worried people won’t go on and I’ll have a lot of “show ups”.

Has anyone had their guest only RSVP online and if so, did it work well?

Thanks!!

We did online only and it worked well. I think with any method you do there will be people that won’t RSVP that you will have to follow up with.

This. If people don’t respond then you reach out to them, that way you don’t have any “show ups”.
I did both paper and online RSVP, and I think we received more online anyway.

I agree with Kelly. I am doing RSVP via website and my deadline is the 17th. I'm waiting to hear from 8 people, which isn't bad. People are generally awful at RSVPing. I would do what works best for you!

I am but my wedding is a bit longer. You have to contact the people who do not RSVP. You will get some of them either way.

I have been debating doing the same, partly to save money on stamps, lol. I think for older guests (grandparents, other relatives, people who didn't open our online Save the Dates), we will do a mailed RSVP card. For those who are more tech-savvy we will include a card that directs them to the website.

We are having a very small ceremony and reception and a large, casual potluck a month later. No gifts, just bring a food and celebrate. I plan on sending out save the dates and invites for the ceremony and reception, and and save the dates and invites for the potluck. We will only be doing online rsvps, same reason you are thinking: our wedding website is very detailed, and we want most people to go there first for info. Plus it's very easy to text a link to it to stragglers who haven't rsvp'd, I think it's harder to get someone to mail me something. The time you spend getting people to go online sounds way easier than the time you spend reading through all the mail youre getting back and detailing it somewhere.

We did online and it worked so well !! However, we did find copying the url and sending it through text was a bit easier than having them to type in the url but that was for the lagers who waited the last minute to RSVP. I am also not sure if the guest read through our whole website but we got all our RSVP on time and quickly. I read some many stories of ppl not RSVP'ing and I really didn't have that problem. Just maybe 5 out of 150 had to be sent the link.

Good idea! I thought about doing that for my older guest just to make it easier...plus I also figured they would probably call with even more questions bc they got confused with the online RSVP 😆
btw, saving money on stamps was also one of my reasons but I was afraid to say it lol!

Perfect! I know it takes me forever to actually make it to the post office, so I think having everyone able to RSVP online will be so much more convenient
