rsvp Update!

Angerra, on July 11, 2019 at 9:04 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8
Hey Everyone!

I've seen a lot of recent posts about RSVPs and thought I'd share my experience.

We mailed out invitations at the beginning of May with a RSVP due date of 7/10. We received all rsvps back and have 1 couple pending; they're making their flight arrangements today, so hopefully we hear back later this evening.

We ended up inviting 200 guests total and our current count is 145. I had a lot more yes rsvps on my side than my fiance, but we're ok with that. We still have a great group of family and friends attending.

We definitely went against standard wedding etiquette and sent out reminders prior to the RSVP due date. I think it helped tremendously! Everyone thanked us for the reminder because they either forgot, lost their RSVP card, thought they had to wait until the 10th to RSVP, sent back their RSVP using the STD, and the list of excuses goes on and on lol.

With us being in the last 30 days, we don't have to follow up with anyone and we can start assigning tables!

I hope everyone else's RSVP process is going well and no one is giving you any headaches lol!

I never would have thought to send out a reminder! What a great idea.

People thought they had to wait until the deadline??

Omg. I’ll never understand the unique mental hoops people jump through to reach conclusions like that.

I seen a lot of people on here advising not to do this and to give guests until the due date before reaching out. I just couldn't wait lol. I didn't want to have to deal with following up with a bunch of people instead of starting to wind down during these last few weeks and enjoy seeing everything come together.

I hope it works for you!

I did something similar. Because we didn't send STDs, we just send out our e-vites about 6 months before the wedding with a RSVP date about 2 months out! A month before the RSVP date, we sent out a follow-up reminder. Our guests appreciated it and everyone responded. Anyone who couldn't answer immediate also let us know that they were 'tentative' and let us know when they'd have an answer. Well, every RSVP was made on time and we had one last minute no-show.

I thought it went very smoothly and the guests seemed to appreciate it (either that or they held their tongue!)

That’s such a good idea! If you don’t mind me asking, how did you word your reminders/what did they look like?

I sent a message saying, " Hey X! I hope all is well! I just want to remind you that the RSVP deadline is quickly approaching. Please mail back your RSVP card when you have a chance or let me know if you are unable to attend! Thank you! Have a great day!"

For those who I am super close with, I was a little more loose and direct with my wording lol. I also didn't start sending out reminders until the middle of June to let at least a month and a half go by. We also sent one last reminder the first week of July.

I waited for some and didn’t for others but wish I would’ve just talked to everyone before the deadline because I would’ve saved headache wondering are they are aren’t they when some said they weren’t planning on coming and “forgot” to let us know..and the rest planned on coming but didn’t think they needed to RSVP because we should just know they’re coming. Only 4 people actually RSVPd without a follow up and I had a link online to the wedding website so it was an easy click process but even with a reminder and me sending a link to everyone we still had to follow up to get the RSVPs.
