rsvp time line

Dacia, on October 8, 2019 at 1:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
My wedding is May 30 and my rsvp date is April 15, so it’s a 6 week time frame. I already ordered the invited and everything (Shutterfly had a big sale and I’m all about saving money). My thinking with the 6 weeks time frame was that my fiancé doesn’t think any of his family will come and I wanted to give ourselves time to buy centerpieces, figure out how much we need for the ice cream bar, and other small things without wasting too much money. However I’m almost feeling anxious that’s it’s almost too big of a gap now. Opinions?

6 weeks is too long - your invitations shouldn't even go out until 8 weeks. That's not a lot of time for people.

Invitations typically go out 6-8 weeks before the wedding, so I think having an RSVP deadline that far out is way too early. I understand the centerpiece aspect, but this is really only going to give you more problems and a not-so-accurate headcount. Many people can't commit to an event that early in advance, so you'll likely have more cancellations and no shows than most.

We had an RSVP date 40 days out. According to Wedding Wire that was "too early" but we sent them out 3 months in advance so guests had them for 6 weeks and all besides 8 guests had to stay in the hotel because they lived 1.5+ hours away or more. We had 60 people not RSVP but we got all their answers by the next day. We had 1 no show and everyone else came. No last minute RSVP changes or people showing up that RSVPed no.
