rsvp stress!

B, on October 31, 2019 at 1:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
Ok so,

our wedding is the Saturday after thanksgiving, and we over invited because we assumed nobody would be able to make it since they all live in different states, and of course now we have almost no declines. I’m getting stressed we won’t all fit in the venue 😂

has anybody else had a similar situation?? And how did you handle it

Your options are to find a venue that can fit all of your guests or have an extremely awkward conversation with the guests that you need to un-invite and let them know that you didn't plan accordingly for your guest list.

How close are you to your RSVP date?

Does your venue actually have a number that is their "max # of guests" or are you just worried that it's too small for the number you invited?

If your venue has a max, and you've gone over, that's bad. This is why there's so much advice out there telling couples NOT to over invite--for this reason!! You can't predict how many declines/acceptances you will get.

If you're over the venue's max, then you have to find another venue.

How many remaining rsvps do you have?? or rather how many total people still have to rsvp. All of my rsvp declines pretty much came at the end among those who just decided to wait last minute and not even return the rsvp. I literally had at least 12 declines the week rsvps were due.

About how much are you over the limit? Is there an option to rent tents/seating outside for extra guests?

Why wouldn't you get a venue that can fit the amount of guests you plan to invite not how many will attend. It feels rude to now uninvite people considering your wedding is 3 weeks away

That's a risk you fave when you over invite. Whether it be for venue or budget restrictions, over inviting can definitely bite you in the butt! Hope you figure something out.

We did ours backwards for that reason. We sent out RSVP cards with the Save the Date 100 cards. After that we was at 32 coming meaning 63 when they bring someone. We then mailed out Formal Invitation with all the information. We had the exact number for everything cake, food, drinks which we getting a lot of our money back because of unused alcohol.

Then ppl start saying they wouldn't make it, I counted for 63 including us for a destination. Next thing I know it balanced itself out and we had the exact number we didn't owe anything at the end. Let God control it.
