rsvp Situations

Chelsea, on June 24, 2020 at 1:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
Hello All,

So I’m a little taken aback, I sent out my invitations about 2 weeks ago. Every envelope had a invitation and a kindly respond/details card. I’m worrying because I’m not sure when to expect people to RSVP. The deadline is July 11, 2020. Also some of my family is calling me just telling me they are coming without RSVPing. It’s like they don’t even read the card. I will say the RSVPs need to be responded to through my wedding website and they also have to choose a meal. So am I wrong for referring them to the website.

People will usually procrastinate. You will probably get most of your RSVPs on July 11th, give or take a day. If people call you, can you politely ask them to go to the website because you also need their meal selection?

People are so bad at responding sometimes. so sometimes you're gonna have to chase after their response

We are almost a month past our rsvp date and are still chasing people for their answers. At this point its a definite no. The address is a secret so even if they decide to show they won't know where to show up to!

I say give them until 7/11, then wait 1 week to start calling on all the ones you're missing...and actually call them, don't email or text. Smiley winking

I personally will not be chasing people down for a response. I gave them 4 different avenues to respond (text, email, rsvp card, or the website). If they can't or won't do that, oh well. There is a section of our website that has FAQs. One of the questions is "Do we really have to RSVP?" our answer was: no...however if you don't you might want to bring a chair and a sandwich because your presence will not be factored in at the party... I know this is a bit sarcastic for most people, but it is completely what our family and friends expect from us. Smiley laugh
