rsvp Results!

Nykole, on August 29, 2019 at 3:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
So, yesterday was my RSVP deadline and I wanted to share my results and experience with you all. My guest list consisted of 115 people and 89 of them are coming! If my math serves me correctly, that's right around 77%. I am very happy with this number, as I was hoping for a few declines honestly. Especially from a few family members that I only invited because I felt obligated to. ALL of those family members declined... YAY! Haha.

Let me just say, this part of the process has been the most annoying part of it all! Planning has been pretty breezy for the most part, but it seems as though a lot of people SUCK at RSVPing. I had the most trouble with my family. I ended up having to reach out to MOST of them personally to ask if they were coming or not. Most of them are coming, but I wonder if I was ever going to see that RSVP card again. Probably not. They're the type of people that won't let you know if they're coming or not and then show up anyway the day of. LMAO! This isn't a backyard barbecue, people. Oh well. I'm happy that they're coming, so that's all that matters.

There's a couple of people that didn't RSVP that I've reached out to and still haven't heard anything back from. I'm going to give them until Monday to respond. If not, oh well.

Anyway, I can't believe how fast the day is approaching! Only 41 days to go!! How is everyone else doing in the planning process? How much longer do you have? How did the RSVP process go for you!?

Yay, so glad that is over for you! You're so close! We got married 7/20/2019 and invited 225 people. We had 125 RSVP "yes" and 1 no show on our actual day. We expected a lot of "no" responses, more than half our guest list was out of state (at least 1,000 miles), a few were out of the country, several were elderly and really never traveled, and we invited full families & significant others (some people came without their kids). Our guests had their invites for 6 weeks, and they could RSVP online or on the stamped/addressed card we included in the invite. By our RSVP date, we STILL had to contact 61 people! It took about an hour. The next day, we were only waiting on 20 people. I had all those responses by the following week.

I invited 115 too (including ourselves) and it’s looking like we will have majority come. We have only had one couple decline so far and knocked off my one bridesmaid’s guy cuz he broke up with her. Our RSVP date is in September. We hit a lull in people rsvp’ing though. We are not sure if the officiant will decide to stay and bring his wife (FH’s pastor) and we are honestly not sure if FH’s two brothers will show. Right now I’ve been squaring away gifts I’m getting for moms and bridesmaids. Figuring out flower girl dress. Hope to work on staining various wood decor this weekend!

I still have a week and a half until my RSVP deadline, but so far we have zero no's... which is making me stress lol. We invited 106 and I was hoping for at least 25 no's! Hopefully the stragglers will come in as no's. So far we have heard from about 70 people.

I'm glad everything worked out for you. This is the scary part for me. I have been to a few weddings where the bride and groom had to come out of additional cash at the reception because some people did not RSVP and showed up and with a plus 1 costing the the couple to pay for additional plates. For me I don't want to get pulled to the side at my reception being told I have to pay for additional food for going over the maximum people we paid for. I told my fiance and my mother that I was going to put "If you don't RSVP and you show up at the reception please bring a brown paper bag lunch and a chair" my fiance thought it was funny and my mother almost had an heart attack. I truly want to put that on the invites but I know I can't at least not word it that way.

We are 22 days out and have been chasing down RSVPs for the last week or so. At this point we are waiting on 2 that have been asked multiple times and at this point I think it’s super rude that you can’t make a decision as we are giving numbers to our venue on Monday, then ordering place cards. We are still nailing down our vows and small details like timelines and music selections. Can’t believe it’s so close already.

I asked everyone to RSVP by Aug 15 but had to hunt down 28 people this week Smiley ups We are 22 days away but we have 63 out of 77 so i'd say that's pretty good!! A few from the west coast i'm sad won't be able to make it but I understand ... and my fiance said 'we'll just have to go visit them next year then' Smiley winking We did hit a lil snag with kids though!! I forgot to specify 'adults only' as we were hoping to only have our nieces but now have had several guests get in touch to ask about bringing kids... and one who said they have to bring theirs even after I said please don't. Wasn't really sure how to handle that because I already told others they can't... but my fiance did not tell them they can't so now we will have a 6 month old in attendance. Smiley atonished other than that it's been alright!!

This has been my least favorite part. My RSVP deadline is coming up. We didn't send everyone an RSVP card just the ones that older & the ones that are less tech savvy. Everyone else had a card with our wedding website to RSVP with. We've gotten back almost all of our cards, but only 3 families have RSVPed on the website out of 40 or so. What annoys me the most is they are all our family members that haven't RSVPed. I'm not sure if they think it's just assumed they're going to be there or what. FHs dad said to me "I don't actually have to RSVP to this thing, right? I'm going to be there" he doesn't have a close to relationship to my FH & my FH still thinks his dad won't show up 🤦

My wedding is in 22 days, I invited 115 people & I only got about 8 RSVP's back😭😭 yeah that's sad, at this point whoever comes comes & whoever doesnt doesnt, we already paid for the 115 plates so if theres extras then people can take some home

I have only 17 days left till I say I do! It really is crazy how fast time has gone by! Surprisingly we only had to contact 23 people who hadn't sent their RSVP by the due date. I honestly thought it would be more lol Out of the 155 guests we invited, 139 will be able to attend! I'm happy we're getting a good turn out.
